Iona -2.5 over Manhattan **
These two guys played last yr for the MAAC championship.. Iona won by 3 and that was with Mo Jones...Mo is gone but English has replaced him..Iona can score...avg 84 pts a game...they have 3 players Armond,English and Bowman that can shoot the 3 and attack...their weakness is that they have one inside player in Laury.There other problem is there defense....they can't stop anybody..most MAAC teams that play them score their seasons high but still lose...these guys split last yr in the reg season and always play tight games...Iona leads the MAAC in offense,scoring,FT%,3 pt shooting,etc,etc...has 3 of the top 10 scorers in the conf and has 194 assists in 10 games...thats a 19.4 avg...so w/o Mo back they are sharing the ball.
Manhattan who has lost 2 of last 3 is loaded esp. with Beamon back.They lead or are second in the MAAC in defense,blocked shots,steals,turn over margin{ but Iona is 2nd}etc....They have one of the best pt gds in Alvardo and inside players in Brown...MC weakness is 3 pt shooting where they made 51-157 for 32%.. Meanwhile Iona shot 108-249 for 43%...so Iona made double the 3's...but hold on.. Man defenses the 3pt with teams shooting 31%...so something has to give tonight...playing at home on national TV ESPNU .I think Iona has just to much offense despite MC defense...Iona in the past few games has improved playing D....they need too tonite...MC is one game out after getting beat by Quinn the other day...Iona wins by 4 or 5 in a close game...
Rider +1 over Peter **
Peter beat Rider last week by 8 on the road...but Peter has lost 3 in a row...Peter plays great defense but has only 2 scorers in Dominique and Washington...they are last in FG,scoring,turn over ratio,assists. But 1st in defense,FT%,3 pt D,etc....Rider has a few solid scorers in Myles,Stewart,Taylor,Sadler and got 21 the other nite from Pieria ...Rider ranks in the middle of the pack in most stats....and is in 4th place with a 6-4 record... and the Peter loss kept them out of being tied with Manhattan for 3rd...think Broncos wake up and give Peter problems tonite..
Columbia +2 over Yale ***
Like the Lions tonite...these guys almost beat the Johnnies a few weeks ago...have won 6 or 7 in a row...playing Cornell in back to back games isn't to good..although in the past Yale has dominated them last yr at home the Lions put a whupping on the Dogs 59-46...and most of those Lions are back... Lo and Rosenberg both avg 14 pts..they have the two big boys who only avg 7 pts a game but are a presence..and you have Cohen who is a great passer...
Brown -12 over Cornell **
Big Red have won one game...they have dominated Brown over the years...tonite starts some payback..
