The real season starts tonite....tired of the ACC's Big 10' s,Pac12's, Big 12's,A-10's....and all of these fake conferences names has more teams in them.. A-10 has 12 teams,Big 10 has 12,Pac 10 has 12....but the MAAC cares about academics and sports...that is why it stands out..play games on Friday nites and Sunday afternoons...homework and class time is never missed....but always wanted to ask the MAAC officials about the long bus rides since no one travels by plane....Niagara and Canisius when they play Iona,St Pete,Rider, etc do have 12 hour bus rides and vice versa..at least when the southern teams play up in the Nanook area they play both teams...anyway the season starts tonite....my favorite team Marist isn't playing tonite...they won big last nite vs. a D-3 team...

Fairfield +3.5 over Rider **
Rider starts 4 seniors and has been on the road...tonite get to play in Broncos tiny gym with a big crowd expected...Rider has solid front line with Thomas,Lundy and Carey..all 6'7...that is big for a MAAC front line...Taylor returns at the gd and freshman Jordan leads in assists...the problem is they cannot shoot from long range...Taylor their best player hasn't got his game together yet...maybe waiting to play at home...although Rider is one of the worst 3 pt shooting teams in the country shooting 26% ranking them 351st but are No 1 in the nation in 2 pt %.....Rider has been on the road all season so playing finally at home should really help them....Stags have been up and down...beating a bad Army team the other nite by 1 scares me....Nelson who is the best player on the court tonite although avg 17 pts hasn't put it all together yet...Segura the 5'10 gd is pretty solid...Cobb and Miln are avg 16 and 11...but the key tonite is 6'8 Sidbe...he was out all last yr...they have been giving him 8-12 minutes a game until last week....in his last 2 games he has 13 and 19 pts with 13 and 19 rebounds... .I know he can't keep that pace up but his return to the Stags is huge....
In the last 5 or 6 years these games have been decided by 5 or less points except once....tough game to start the season because Rider hasn't played at home at all...Riders has 4 players that have played vs Stags the past 3 years....think Nelson and his gds have an advantage..Rider has the front court advantage but if Sidbe keeps playing like that Stags win this outright.... back later with Monmouth-Quinn....

Monmouth -9 over Quinn **
1st game in conf is tough to handicapp....Quinn is preseason doormat in the MAAC..but thats not going to happen...even though they lost pretty big to Zaga they kept it close with Seton Hall and the other nite beat a pretty good Ind St team....The Kiss kid is really good...watched him the other nite..a 6
5 gd that can score...defense is there biggest problem...Monmouth is the class of the MAAC...with one of the best pt gds in the country in Robinson his partner Seaborn who can score...6'10 Brady in the middle and Hornbeak who can stick the 3...not much depth...Hwks have been playing ok but think tonite its a league game...lyr they did beat Quin by 14 and 15..think tonite its about the same...both teams have a lot back even though Quinn lost top scorer...but Kiss makes up for that...

Seton Hall -15.5 over Columbia **
Hall is loaded on the front line...Desi and Delgado are double=double players...Carrington is a 6'4 gd that can do it all...Powell can score...even though they were beaten bad by Stanford Hall can score...Lions problem tonite is how to stop the Hall....they have a few scorers in Petra and Mies who are 6'10 and 6'8 but think they cannot stop Halls duo inside...hate giving up that many points but Hall has to much offense and enough defense to win this by 20...Carrington has made SH fans forget Whitehead...that is how good this kid is...hopefully Hall doesn't go to the FT line to much tonite because they shoot 64% ranking them 287th...
