YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Ryan Prillman had 21 points as Eastern Michigan upset MAC West-leading Central Michigan 84-68 on Saturday before a crowd of 4,365, the second largest ever to see a basketball game at the Convocation Center.
The victory was Eastern's first over Central after four straight losses. It snapped the Chippewas' five-game winning streak.
The Eagles (8-7, 2-4 MAC) were blazing from the start, using a 15-0 run to jump out to a 29-7 lead nine minutes into the game.
During the stretch, Eastern was 11-of-17 from the field while Central almost had three times as many turnovers (eight) as field goals made (three).
The Chippewas (12-4, 5-2) managed to cut their deficit to 41-26 at halftime and closed to within four points at 70-66 with 3:26 left in the game, but couldn't get any closer.
Ricky Cottrill had 17 points while Michael Ross and Markus Austin each added 15 points for the Eagles. Chris Kaman led Central with 20 points despite fouling out with 2:09 left in the game.
