Toledo
Missouri @ Ball St

I like Missouri in this spot. Despite beating Illinois, Illinois outgained them in yardage and all the good box score stuff. Turnovers seem to kill the Illini. But creating turnovers has been Pinkels thing ever since his coaching years here in good ol Toledo.

I think Missouri wins this game because Ball Sts defense - especially in the middle - is very soft. They didnt do so well against the run last year, and it seems like Indy St was able to run the ball on them. Every time Ball St has faced a 3D team, they have gotten they ass kicked...BG, Ohio, Marshall etc...

On offense, Ball St has Andy Roesch at QB - he sucks, he has no weapons, and Ball St has no running game as the great Marcus Merriweather has graduated.

This Mizzou offense is 3 dimensional

1) Mizzou has a solid running game with Smith, Abrom and Nash.
2) The passing game is short and latteral, which sets up for 2nd and 3rd and shorts
3) The pass defense seems to be one of the worst in the B12... except for Kansas, but they don't really count.
4) The run defense is solid.

Also, Mr. Gary Pinkel Iam sure has a chip on his shoulder. 3 times when Pinkel was at Toledo, Ball St would knock them out of the Top25 - so Iam sure he`s still pissed about that.

Brad Smith + Zak Abrom = $$$

Gary Pinkel on not letting his players look past Ball State:

?I would suggest that I should put my focus towards that a little bit. Obviously, I didn?t do a very good job last year at times with this football team, learning how to win, learning how to be consistent, learning how to make sure you respect every opponent, because Ball State could beat us in a heartbeat. They can beat us in a heartbeat if we don?t play well. That?s my job to get that done. Quite frankly, I dropped the ball a year ago. I didn?t do a very good job. I thought I did, but the bottom line is I didn?t get the job done. When you learn how to win, there?s a lot of hurdles to overcome and one is playing at a high level each and every week. We?ll find out about ourselves because if we go in and think we?re just going to kind of work through it and work the game out and come out with a win, they?ll beat us in a heartbeat. It?s my job to make sure that doesn?t get done.?

Missouri -14 is my pick

Marshall @ Tennessee

Well, another spot for the MAC to take it to em - those BCS sons of bitches!! But alias, this right here is Tennessee my friends. I would love to see Marshall win this game with a great receiving core, and a good running back with Butchie Wallace - but this will end up being another Marshall/Va Tech type of game. Mr. Hill - Marshall QB did prove himself last season as we all saw against Miami(OH) in that mafia called game. he has a nice arm, but looking at the box score, and Marshall had 5 turnovers!!!  Well Herd Fans, this isnt The Pride...this is Phillip Fulmer and his Vols. The defense isnt there for the Herd and the Vols have talent galore as the best go to Tennessee...

Gimmie ol Rocky Top -19

Kent St @ Pittsburgh

Ahhhh my favorite player in the nation - Mr. Josh Cribbs gives the steel city a visit. How goooood is Pitt this year??? Perhaps will go to a BCS bowl IMO - But where is Mr. Rutherford for this game??? MIA perhaps. With that in mind, that could give me another scoring edge for Kent St. Obviously the talent level is not compariable however, I believe Josh Cribbs - who is a better passing QB this year - can get me 14 points on the board. His speed is unreal - even last year when they played OSU(1st string D) he ripped through them. If Kent St doesnt turn the ball over more then twice, then Kent wil cover this game. Too many points for Cribbs...

I take Kent St + 29

Ohio @ Iowa St

I just love it when Ohio plays out of conference. Why you ask??? Becuase, how on earth do you perpare for Ohio?? The Ohio Bobcats are still almost a month away from playing a conference football game, but it's no overstatement to say that the two biggest games of their season might begin with Saturdays' contest in Ames against Iowa State. Iowa St will have to perpare themselves against the flexbone offense one of the most unpredictable and unorthodox setups in NCAA Division I-A football. The Bobcats approach the line of scrimmage with throwback formations. Then one of six or seven running backs begins blasting through a bewildered defense. Once Knorr's squad has an opponent on its heels, one of his two quarterbacks begins attacking from the air.

Iowa St has had thier 15 minutes of fame with Seneca Wallace. Iowa St is not Oklahoma or Texas or even Iowa. They dont get the best players, so they will struggle. Stafford Owens will run on this ISU defense

My Pick is Ohio + 19.5

Buffalo @ Iowa

No reason really, Iam just chasing points. Alot of starters returning for the Bulls including Aaron Leeper.

I think 37 is too generous

I like Buffablows + 37.5

Bowling Green @ Purdue

I LOVE BG in this spot. Purdue who might just win the Big 11 this year has a tough challenge ahead of them. Josh Harris one of the best QBs in the MAC and one of the good ones in the nation will take himself into West Lafayette to face Toledo born Joe Tiller. Many BCS teams have tried to defeat the Falcons, granted it is Northwestern, Kansas, Temple, and Mizzou - but still. Josh Harris steps it up against the big boys regardless. Harris with his cannon arm and ungodly running ability. He can single handedly take over this game.

With Purdue running back Joey Harris gone due to academic suspension, all eyes will be on Jerod Void and Brandon Jones. BGSU's run defense should be strong, so these two backs won't have it easy. On the defensive side, three stars in the Boilermaker back seven, free safety Stuart Schweigert and linebackers Niko Koutouvides and Landon Johnson, will have their hands full trying to keep Harris from running too much.

I Like Bowling Green +10.5

Right there with ya on Tennesse, can't imagine how Marshall makes much of a game. Also on Kent State, nobody's really discovered how good Cribbs is. Gl man.:)

Thanks hellah. How u feelin bout this season ?

Iam not sure...nice to see NIU get the win...but Toledo loss to UNLV?? I musta missed alot in last weeks games. Ive gotten better at capping the MAC every year...learning to lay off certain games, and look at games more obvious rather then being bias..

I feel this season will be yet another success for all of us at MJs  :D :)

welcome home!

welcome home!

Thanks for your service (to our country). You guys are making us very proud over there.

Missouri -14
The Tiger defense, a concern coming into the season, looked strong against the Illini. Ball State doesn't have nearly the same offensive talent as Illinois.
Missouri's offense will open it up. Ball State doesn't have the defense to handle Smith and the power of Zack Abron.

Iowa -37
The Bulls couldn't do much against Rutgers. Iowa is much better. It'll be almost impossible for Buffalo to stop the Hawkeye running attack.

Wisconsin -25.5
Wisconsin's offense was close to blowing up all game long against the Mountaineers. When it clicks, it's going to hang 50 against the average teams without breaking a sweat. Akron is an average team. If Kent State's Joshua Cribbs can throw for over 300 yards, Wisconsin's Jim Sorgi should be able to do that in three quarters.

Thanks for the writeups omar, sorry to be against you on Purdue though. I just think their QB tandem is going to be too much for BG. Even though BG was what 9-0 last year(?) they never beat a team with a winning record. Going to be tough for them though I still like Purdue -10 in this spot. Good luck though, hate to go against the mac-guru.
