last week's temple/wmich was a perfect example of why its tough to put money on horrible (read: temple) teams. owls down 10-0 just seconds before half and lining up for a field goal. looking like 10-3 at the break ... bam -- blocked field goal returned for touchdown. from 10-3 to 17-0 in the final 0:05 of the half. that swing ended up costing the owls the cover after they actually looked like a d-1 footbal team for a half.
saturday:
akron (-2.5) over kent
if this were basketball season, the intensity would be insane and the home team would have a monster edge in this rivalry game ... unfortunately for kent, dix stadium and a generally apathetic crowd wont be enough to get them over the hump ... kent has improved tremendously and doesnt even resemble the team that got smashed by akron in the blizzard last year, but just dont think theyre good enough to get the SU win quite yet. zips have the wagon wheel on their mind :142smilie
