GMan I know you will be glued to your tv Wednesday Night. No way you can miss a big game for your favorite team. WIll have to be more thrilling that beating the Salukis or that barnburner game with Princeton.

I'd take the Rockets at -3 but I think we will get a little better line when it opens. Toledo is playing pretty well and Stan is staying out of their way. In the two o'clock game we probably should take WMU with the off shore since Spang will lay double digits on a side bet with us for a nice middle once we get him a few Amstels! The nine o'clock game will be a very interesting. The winner might not have much left for Kent.

I don't know about you guys....but I certainly didn't expect to see Akron laying 12?!? At first glance, I would lean toward ALL of the pups at these numbers, including Toledo...

The higher seeds held serve in the opening round, but it wouldn't shock me in the least to see at least 2 of the lower seeds winning outright...

I like the Rockets also along with Ohio getting 2. I know they have struggled this year but they will certainly play with confidence in Cleveland. Charlie Coles has made the most of this squad but they tend to let teams hang around.

Buffalo scares me, I need to gauge how many fat chicks make the trip before I play that game. If the fans aren't there to support, I gotta go with Kent read, Kent write, Kent State!

WMU/Akron is no play. Zips are playing well but double-digit chalk is tough to lay in the tourney.

Not to worry boys because Spackler is in the house. I was busy caddying for none other than the Dalai Lama himself. You know, the twelfth son of the lama...flowing robes...the grace...awe...striking.

As far as the tourney goes, The Rockettes jump off the board to me. The early start could be troublesome though because most UT students aren't even out of bed by noon for class let alone prepared to play a basketball game. The OU/Miami game is the best one of the first round obviously, but I wouldn't be fired up about either side right now. I would lean towards laying the chalk with Kent State...don't think Buffalo has the depth and Kent just seems to be on a mission right now. Thought Akron would be laying less than this but maybe that is a reflection of Western's struggles last night. The bottom bracket semi-final is going to be a dandy on Friday.

I have been out buying up as much Killians, Amber Bock, Guinness, and Bass as possible because once the Buffalo Gals get into town and put a hurtin' on the downtown bars' beer supply, I should be able to sell it at a mighty fine profit.

And one more thing....if any of you get the bright idea to call me at work on Thursday afternoon while you are at the game, there is going to be hell to pay.

BG---like you said, they may have to bar the doors at the Lizard.....so that the Buffalo Women's Tug of War Team doesn't overrun the town. They sent busloads last year.... Yikes. :scared

That being said, Buffalo underachieved all year in my opinion, and they still have that bitter taste from the OT loss to Kent a few weeks back. Just a strong suspicion they keep this one close. Still--as much as I hate to say it, I think that OU is THE play of this round. Miami does let teams hang around and they do play low scoring ballgames. Taking 2 points against the rival that has punched you in the mouth twice sounds like the way to go.

Adding Akron as a play today. I did not like the original number but Western is taking some play and the number is down to 10 and may fall to 9' soon.

Double digit favs have generally taken care of business in cleveland in the past and I think the Zips are in the proper mind set to take care of business today. If you are a believer of the revenge angle, you have that going for you as well as Western bounced the Zips out of the Q with an overtime victory last year.

No total plays as of yet, but leaning under on both the Zips and Rockets in the early session.

Hey Falcon, if were not meeting until 11:15 how can I meet my pre- game Amstel quota

Thanks for the invite BG....I read your post after I had already left. It would have been cool to meet up with you guys......

I took in all 4 games yesterday. Got screwed hard on that meaningless put-back by N Illinois with less than a second to go.....but got it back with OU late last night. Miami was very disappointing--I haven't seen a Charlie Coles team that sloppy and disinterested ina long time. That being said--Ohio is a dangerous team to play right now. They shot the ball well, got up and down very well, and just generally seem to be clicking at the right time. TON of crowd support for the Bobcats down there last night as well. The students travelled well and were into the game all night. Haven't seen the numbers yet, but it would not shock me in the least to see Ohio pull the upset tonight. The Kent squad didn't overly impress me---just not the same caliber of team as they were in years past. My gut tells me this number may be around the 4-5 point range......and if so, I will gladly take the points.

As for the other game, Akron should have their way down low, but Toledo is also playing their best ball. Villegas is locked in. If memory serves, Toledo has won 6-7 in a row and is also a tough out. I think they will try and play up tempo tonight and get Travis huffing and puffing. Again, wouldn't shock me to see another upset.....

I'll be heading down tonight to catch these 2 ballgames in person.....and will add anything potentially relevant that I can find as the day progresses...

Ohio U girls = Dirty. :brows:

Taking OU at +3 against Kent St. I thought Ohio looked good last night and played with confidence. Also tagging along with Spang on the Toledo/Akron over. Rockets are athletic and stupid--a nice combination for an over.

Goose,
Carl Spackler and I will be at the Winking Lizard around 5 for refreshments.
