Lets see if we can repeat last nights performance....

Central Michigan +8 - When I watched Toledo play Kent St, they did a great job containing Nate Gershwig and did an OK job on Antonio Gates - and saying OK job is like a GREAT job on any other player. Problem was, Toledo would double team Gates and left someone open for a open 3. Now Toledo did this because they dont have a big man...and they basically used every big man on the bench to guard Gates....all got into foul trouble....all failed in the paint. In comes Chris Kaman. The guy is 7 feet tall and can stuff yo ass to da 4th row. But this game wont be between Kaman and Gates...no sir!!! It`ll be on the shoulders of J.R. Wallace and Mike Manciel. Iam guessing they will how so much emphasis on Chris Kaman - that they wont be able to put as much pressure on these guards...which meannnnsssssss driving to the hole and getting fouls and going to the line. Hmmmm this reminds me of another game that Kent St LOST - ahhhh yes the BG game that was on Fox Sports. In the 2nd half Kevin Netter came out smokin, but Kent St adjusted to Netter and played a 2-3 zone D...but yup, they still double teamed him and yup he dished it out to his guards...and yup, they stepped up ;)

Northern Illinois -5 - Who has the longest active winning streak in the Mid-American Conference? Kent State? No, but good guess. Central Michigan? Wrong again. The correct answer: Northern Illinois University. The Huskies have won five games in a row to leap from last place in the West Division to a first-place tie. NIU?s 63-46 victory over Bowling Green State on Saturday, coupled by CMU?s loss at Eastern Michigan, put the Huskies in a tie with the Chippewas for tops in the West. Can anybody stop PJ Smith?!?!!? PJ has been playing as good as anybody in the conference - including Antonio Gates and Brandon Hunter; the brotha is making a name for himself. And the thing about it, most MAC fans outside of DeKalb dont know who he is...idiots!!

Miami(OH) - Waiting for this line to go to a PK.....

THUNDER - Eastern Michigan is tough to play against in Yipsi...however, the Miami Redhawks have won 3 straight and Danny Horace is playing steller basketball. I like the match-ups here with Horace against Prillman. For the second consecutive week, a Miami University men's basketball player has earned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week accolades. Following a week where he led Miami to its first three-game win streak since Feb. 6-11 of last season, sophomore forward Danny Horace was tabbed player of the week, the conference office announced Monday. Over Miami's past three games, five players have been key elements to Miami's wins, scoring the bulk of the RedHawks' points: Danny Horace (17.0), Chet Mason (12.3), Juby Johnson (14.7), Josh Hausfeld (11.7), Gene Seals (8.3). Seals was averaging double figures before being sidelined with an ankle injury just four minutes into Saturday's contest against Ball State. Making just his second start of the season, Seals was able to score two points and dish out an assist in just four short minutes of action. Horace and Mason are also averaging 8.0 and 7.0 rebounds per game, respectively. From the field, four of the five (Horace, Mason, Hausfeld and Seals) are all shooting 45.0 percent or better over the last three games led by Seals' 60.0 percent shooting effort. Last season, Chet Mason ranked nationally among the top small rebounders (6-foot-3 and under), according to Stats, Inc., and this year he's picking up where he left off. Mason is currently tied for sixth on the list, averaging 6.2 boards per game. Boston Colleges Ryan Sidney tops the list, averaging 7.4 rpg. Plus, By inching out a 58-56 win over Ball State on Saturday, Miami is now just one win away from becoming the first Mid-American Conference school to attain 500 league wins. In their 56th year in the MAC, the RedHawks hold a 499-288 record in conference play and boast a league-best .634 winning percentage. The next closest school in the win column is Ohio University, which owns a 446-350 record over 57 years in the MAC. Miami also owns 20 regular-season MAC crowns, more than twice the number of titles than any other league school.

sorta leaning the other way on kent and akron. like the miami play though.

kent state has dominated this series lately. even the good chips teams with webber got blasted by kent. i dont think going inside is the way to beat kent anymore. gates is obviously a presence, even though hes not huge- and gerwig and edwards have really stepped up. so i think the way to beat kent is at the guards. cmu doesnt have that. referencing back to last saturday- toledo DOES have the guards, which is why im surprised they couldnt pull it out at home. but i dont think this is a favorable matchup for cmu.

as far as niu goes- theyve been hot. but does that justify a 5 point lay? im not so sure. not that akron has been playing well. but akrons probably the better team- but niu is obviously playing better. depends what you value more. can make a case for lots of line value being there for the zips. but then again, can make a case to ride the hot team.

CMU was not a good team with Webber....he played selfish basketball and was always a problem to the players and coaches. He thought he was Jordan and could do what he wants on the court. The kid had so much talent - but it went all to his head :nooo:

NILL/AKR

NILL/AKR

Hellah,

You obviuously know your stuff, but that NILL line has to worry you. Plus, look at the bottom feeders they have been playing compared to Akr. BG - twice, EMU, OHIO

I don't know but I though that NILL line would be much higher especially for a team on such a win streak.

Line is right where is should be IMO. Akron has the type of guards that could carry this team if they could distribute the ball more. They could be a team to look at when the MAC Tourny rolls around. I think the Huskies have a clear size advantage and the Huskies are a good sounding defensive team. I just wanna know who`s gonna stop PJ Smith??!??! I dont think anybody can tonight....

That CMU line looks awfully high. They definitely look like the value.

Nice call on the Rockets last night (as in Toledo, not Houston, of course).

i actually thought the kent line was too LOW,lol. go figure.
it did open at 7.5 at olympic and now its up to 8.5, but i honestly expected double digits. kent probably has the strongest home court of any mid major in the country- and theyve ripped some good teams there. line is more surprising given the fact that marshall couldnt stay w/in double digits 2 weeks ago as a 8.5-9.5 point dog- and that looked to be kents main "threat" in the conference. im a little surprised line isnt 10 or 11 to tell you the truth

I think that WAS true about Kent but at 1-3-2 ATS at home this season, the home court doesn't seem quite as strong this season. Also, CMU just doesn't get any respect from the linemaker.

Just my 2 cents worth on the NIU-Akron tilt.

Akron has really struggled with the mac teams that slow tempo, defend well and rebound well. Just look at their games with BG, Miami, and WMU. The Huskies play that same style that just gives the Zips fits.

Smallwood , though only 6'6" is a load in the paint and should have a big night on the boards, and Niu is plenty sound enough on D to get the job done.

I too expected a line of 7-8 pts., but as Hellah stated if Tarver and Hollingsworth are getting off, the Zips will hang with anybody n the MAC. Still, the Zips must improve on defense and rebounding to make any kind of impact on the MAC this season, and I don't see it happening tonight.

The only positive I see for the Zips is that they are a bit rested after a brutal stretch in which they played 4 games in 8 days with travel involved for every game.
