Going to play one of the true professionals in all of sports, and not just because he's going for a landmark win in his career. The Phillies win when the Cubs find ways to give them a game. Maddux has been nails recently and will continue with his deadly movement today against an under performing Phils team. The new player will bring some mojo to an offense that can be stagnant at times and the glove is an improvement to the infield.

He last faced the Phillies in his final regular season start for Atlanta, notching a win on Sept. 28, 2003. What will be tough for the Phillies is that Maddux has had two days in this series to watch them and another three days during the trip to Philadelphia. A student of the game, Maddux has the mental edge.

Pitching matchup
CHI: RHP Greg Maddux

10-7, 3.91 ERA in 2004
1-3, 8.28 ERA vs. PHI in 2003
27-17, 3.38 ERA vs. PHI lifetime

PHI: LHP Randy Wolf

4-6, 3.82 ERA in 2004
1-0, 1.80 ERA vs. CHI in 2003
2-4, 4.50 ERA vs. CHI lifetime

Check out the Cubs' new shortstop, Nomar Garciaparra. He should be in the starting lineup on Sunday. Garciaparra has never played at Wrigley Field, but has a career .328 average during day games. He also batted .386 in July.

Going top also throw some $$ on Montreal. They were involved in the 4 team trade yesterday. Can't bet the other two teams in the trade Boston or Minny for obvious reasons.

Here's what I'm up against...
Zach Day has been on the losing end of his 3 previous starts against Fla. giving up 14 Earned Runs and walking 8 in only 17.2 innings pitched!
Pavano in his last 4 starts against his former team has been brilliant going 4-0. He has 2 complete games in that span and went 7 & 8 innings in the other 2 starts. He has only given up 4 Earned Runs in 33 innings pitched in those starts while walking only 3 and striking out 20.

A contrarian play for me to say the least :bigun:

Vegas is begging for you to take FL IMO with this line. Why is is not higher with a team as strong as one is with a pitcher as strong as he is going against a team as weak as it is, just giving up Cabrera, with a pitcher as weak as he is overall and against Fl. Also, Fl looking not to get swept.

In the past 21 games, Florida is 9-2 against teams above .500, and 1-9 against teams under .500.

Talk about a team motivated by a trade how about the Cubs. They were getting horrible play out of their shortstop both hitting and fielding. Now they get Nomar. They are playing a Phillies team that is about to fire Larry Bowa. Bowa will be lucky to make it past today. The Phillies are the biggest disappointment and have lost five of their last six. The Cubbies are 4-2 in their last 6. Greg Maddux has been lights out recently with a 1.13 ERA and the Cubs have won his last three starts and seven of his last 10. Wolf has a 5.28 ERA in his last three and the Phillies are 1-4 in his last 5.
