Probably going to take a lot of crap for this, but I am going to say it anyways. I agree what happend between Ray and Judge is wrong. I don't know Ray, have never met or talked or emailed with him, but I can tell you first hand that betting can become a disease and a sickness. I've said it many times, I am a small timer, $10 to $20 bets. I have paid my guy many many times and only collected once or twice. I have tried to quit many times. I stopped this spring after paying him in mid April for about 3 weeks. During those 3 weeks I still checked MJ's everyday and the lines. Last week I started calling in my plays again. Of course I am down once again. I ask myself over and over again why bother?
I know its easy to bash Ray and call him everything under the sun. I don't condone what he did, but I understand it. For those of you who win on a consistent basis and can play a couple of games a week for fun, that is great. I wish I had your luck and could have your discipline. It is not easy to stop or just not do it anymore. Baseball is the worst because there are games everyday. I understand what Ray is talking about. You can say just delete MJ's from your favorites or sell your computer, but I'm telling you it is not that easy. Ray made a post today in the MLB forum and he says he is done. If you do something for as long as some of us have, you just can't shut it down like flipping a switch. Maybe some of you can, but I can't, Ray can't, and I bet (no pun intended) many of you can't either.
Ray is right, gambling is a sickness and a disease. Nothing good will ever come of it and eventually it will wear and tear you down. I know there are a few that can sustain and win over the long haul, but they are few and far between. I don't know for sure, but it appears that even Jack doesn't bet everyday or most days? I know this isn't a popular opinion, but Ray is right when he said the bookie is like a drug dealer. I agree 100%.
OK I am ready, feel free to bash away at me.
