This has to be one of the worst horse wrecks ever. It is easily the worst I have ever seen.

I was watching it simulcast on the web, and it looked like a dog race in the first turn.

They never even showed a replay, and I highly doubt they will. The camera is still just on the tote board.......

It was a seven horse field, and four went down. I know one never even moved after that......never tried to get up. Jockeys everywhere. It really did look like a train wreck.

My horse skated across the finish line, but it was declared a "dead race" well before that, as it should have been.

I hope the riders are all okay, but those horses..........

found this this morning from the Idaho Statesman.

One horse died and another horse was destroyed Saturday at Les Bois Park in Boise after an accident in the final race of the night.

A thoroughbred horse fell in the first turn of the race just after 9 p.m., causing at least three other horses to fall. The first horse died instantly on the track, and another horse was put down because of injuries sustained in the crash, said Melinda Nothern, spokeswoman for Capitol Racing, which leases Les Bois Park.

Two jockeys were taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Their conditions were unknown at press time. Another jockey involved in the crash apparently said he felt sore, but was not transported to the hospital.

"We're extremely concerned about the health and safety of our riders and our horses," said Nothern. "We will continue to investigate this unfortunate accident."

No other details were available at press time.

Yeah, that was the freakiest thing I have ever seen, I think the track announcer felt the same way. The horses went down, and the one went down like he was shot!

I mean, he just never moved a muscle! I don't know if he broke his neck, or what. But the caller continued to call the race stating that three had cleared the falls. (My horse was well out in front, of course!) You could tell he was far focused on the wreck though, and he even was telling the jockey to "bring her in", and finally announced the race was called. Once he said that, he made couple comments about hoping the riders were okay, and that was it........he was silent. He was just at a loss, I think.

Hello there, I'm relitively new to the world of horse racing and found this forum after unfortunately seeing news video and reading about this race.

A few questions, if I may. First, am I biased or just uneducated in questioning the 10 day ownership of the 1st horse that went down?

Second, can someone explain the small track investigation process when tragedy occurs, as well as penalties imposed?

Third, the track condition appeared really "rough" to me. I trained in barrel racing as a youngster and the first order of preperation was walking the arena for the safety of my horse (and me). I was "penalized" by my trainer if I mounted in a rocky arena.

There were dirt clods the size of Texas (for a thoroughbred) on Les Bois track. Also, the surface appeared pretty "deep."

Fourth and certainly not last, how are the jockys?

Sure would appreciate any and all educational input.

I know nothing about how tracks or the governing bodies, handle such things.

That's too bad, but thanks for the reply none-the-less.

Far too many breakdowns this year is prompting my own investigation. Wish me luck.

I personally think the casinos are bleeding small track.

I'm with you for sure. I'll never forget this nightmare. :(

Sure makes me want to expose irresponsible ownership, training and track management.
