Make A Friend Send A Letter

Many of our millitary folks have no one to send leters to them. Some have older Mother and Fathers who have a hard time doing this. Age and illness robs manys.
Check with your local paper or news outlets. Also your nearest recruting station should have info. Get a name or two and send a few letters get communication started. I dont need to tell you folks how to write what you wish to say. But you will get replies and make a new friend. Someone who will love you for doing this. Give it a try. You Will Feal Good.

The Romantic way we look at troops is ...well...its cute. The American military is paid for putting thier life on the line. Maybe they aren't paid enough but that is a different post. This new "reality series" life on the front line seems like a good idea until a missle come and kills one of these men.

Most troops have e-mail. Send an e-mail. Try to brighten thier day, it may be thier last. Don't forget they are fighting a war out there.

Send a letter, it helps. I would personally say that the best thing about these adopt a military man type campaigns is it lets the servicemember overseas know that someone appreciates him/her. All you ever see on the news and read in the papers is the obscene amounts of anti-war protests going on in america all the time. And when you are thousands of miles across the world, sitting in a hole in the ground with a shi*tty bag of dried meat in your pocket you begin to wonder why the hell you are there.
When you get a letter from a "civilian" who actually says they acknowledge and appreciate what you do, it makes it worth it.
When the media only blasts anit war protests day after day, the servicemembers begin to feel betrayed, hated, abandoned (take yer pick here) because the government is sending them to some sh*thole, and america hates them for it.

Brings back the whole viet nam mentality.

Its all the damn media's fault to begin with. I mean, how many days in a row do you read about anti war protests on the front page? And then when cities like Norfolk, Seattle, and Bremerton have a PRO MILITARY Protest, it gets put in a two line blurb on the back page?
WTF?

Its just nice to hear from people that there is actually someone in america that supports the government.

There is already a big enuff line drawn between the rifts of civilian society and the military, the current state of affairs is only making it worse.

Marine well said. If there is to be debate or views on the war that are differant. At least here in our coiuntry they should be over with when the real fight starts. I dont want anymore wars. I hate bodybags. I saw all of those I ever need to. We start fighting and I believe we will by March 20th. Then everyone in this country has to stand up for our troops and all protest should end. Those letters can lift a persons morale.

they dont post names and addresses online, but you can usually get the info from a post office or something or address a snail mail letter to

any solider/marine/sailor
the hot sh*tty desert
Afghanistan, FPO AP

or something similar to that.


Another reason to send it,
Have you any idea how freaking BORING it is sitting in a pile of sand for months on end?
Its FUN to get a letter, because it makes you think, react, and most of the guys will write back within a day or two and send it out.
It helps pass the time. You can only waste so much time of the day sticking your thumb up your @ss like some of these guys are forced to do while the world waits in limbo.
