This might need to go in general maybe? no big deal if it needs moved.

Read in the vegas paper today that if utah would lose a game to any of the mt.west teams they have left which would be hard but it could happen, the mt.west would lose over 13 million in money from the bcs bowl bid which they must think they will get if they win out and i have to agree but still early, also each of the schools in the mt.west would lose over 1 million because they knock ytah out of a chance at a bcs bowl, makes you wonder that is a lot of money for a conf. like the mt.west I mean very big money so it does make you wonder if teams will try their best not that I think they can beat utah but it would really be a set back to conf interms of money bigtime set back.

most of these players have a micro-perspective on this and dont even bother to consider the macro-perspective. they are concerned with their four years of eligibility and those four years only. not too many 'altruistic athletes' nowadays who would let something like that even register in their heads. just cant see any player, all-american or third-string, that concerned with the state of the mountain west conference after they graduate. by and large, the money gained wouldnt even affect them during their term of their scholarship. its all about the future, and most couldnt care less.

Gman I agree with players but as a D1 coach i have set in on conf meetings and have posted about them here in ncaa hoops because baseball works the same, if a conf has a chance to get a few teams in the tourny be it hoops or baseball if the top team is in and you have 2 other on the bubble from smaller confrences it is made clear to the top team help the bubble team and I have herd this with my own ears and from other coaches, trust me it happens a lot in hoops and baseball so yes that kind of money for the mt.west conf. it has been talked about by ad's. and you will never find out or see it, not like throwing something for a point spread to win a bet this is a whole different thing and it does happen in ncaa baseball and hoops with smaller confrences every year. Coaches can do things where you would never know it.

Pd have you ever set in aon a conf tourny meeting where it could bring your school and conf big time money? not being a smart ass just wondering if you have been in one of the meetings in hoops in ncaa with buble teams needing to get 1 of 2 to the championship?

Like I said has nothing to do with gambling at all it has to do with big money to a conf that does not get it year in and out like the big confrences like sec,big 12, big 10, acc ect.

also pd good luck with the upcoming season d 1 or 2,juco or hs which ever good luck this winter.
