I don't understand that move at all. He turned down 3mil/year from Vandy last year and this year leaves for a 500k pay cut? Weird!

Sports writer's on Twitter tried to spin it that he wanted to be a HC, but out of the spotlight.

Not sure but I think his personality is more x's and o's and less high profile. He's an Arkansas boy so seems like a good fit for him and his family...IMO:shrug:

The story leaves off the fact that his wife's absurd commentary hurt him with at least one job he recently sought.
if you missed it, take a look at her video. It is tough to watch. To say the least, she lacks the polish of the spouse of an executive.

I'm sure she is a real liability for him, or at least an issue. No doubt the pressure is off for a while and maybe she can handle life better there.
Who knows how much his marriage played into this.
If he wins, he can coach there for a long time and live the high-life.

investigation has been over. we clean
he needs HC experience. wanted the UNC job and they said he lacked that HC line on his resume. He was stupid to turn down the Vandy job last year, but I think he realized he couldn't recruit the athletes he needed to make that offense work in the SEC at Vandy if he can barely do it at Auburn.
ArkState is an hour away from his home town. Knows the area, highschools, etc. Looks bad him taking a paycut, but there are pros to his decision
I just saw the video for the first time... I could only watch half of it... She's fucking nuts... I feel bad for Gus :lol:
