4-3 YTD

Japsers +4

I don't like this Seton Hall team....Orr and his players always seem to be going through the motions. I don't seem them playing an "inspired" game against a lesser (haha) MAAC opponent.

Manhattan, meanwhile, truly believes that it can grab an NCAA tourney berth EVEN if they lose in the MAAC tournament. This is a team that has already beaten St. Johns on the road. But the Jaspers need another "quality" (lol) win against a major conference team to boost the credentials for an at-large bid.

My only concern is Seton Hall's inside game and if the Pirates knock down their threes.

Still.........hot team, not far from home, motivation, getting points.

I'll take Manhattan....(pun intended)

& staten island, too?...w/ you emotionally on this game but staying away based on the hall's recent play...hc orr was only @ siena a short while but he impressed many of us during his stay (orr, hewitt, now lanier--siena is becoming known as a breeding ground/stepping stone for hc advancement) & i would disagree w/ your "going through the motions" statement vis-a-vis this hall team...but i love this manhattan team & think they can win this 1 on the floor, but i'll be a spectator only & rooting for you & them...gl, caper

I think that the other element here which Stag alluded to is that this a much bigger game for Manhattan than Seton Hall.

Manhattan makes a big deal out of being the #1 team in New York -- for example, it's important to them to beat the local competition at the Christmas Holiday Classic at the Garden.

Most of the Jaspers were recruited by other local schools and ended up at Manhattan (Flores started at Rutgers by example). So they have a chip on their shoulder because they play at Manhattan and in the MAAC and not the Big East and they have something to prove.

Not only do I love the four points, I'll take the ML.

book, point understood & appreciated (apologies to stag if i'm stomping on his thread w/ this post) but nobody--& i mean nobody who lives in metro NY, which includes means NJ, CT, MA, PA & DE, is unaware of manhattan's prowess & potential...so that, even w/ an "inferioty complex" motivation propelling them to overachieve, the jaspers are not going to sneak up & surprise an unprepared team from a more distinguished conference...
hc orr will have the hall ready...i'm staying away, rooting for the jaspers...btw, thanx for your daily input, i consider it valuable to my final selections...gl, caper

caper....you can stomp on my posts anytime.....thanks for the imput.

Superbook...you hit it right on the head in summing up what I was trying to say before......this game means much more to Manhattan than it does for Seton Hall

and the fighting for the respect angle?....perhaps.....

stag, remember that hc orr was @ siena b4 going to the hall, albeit briefly, so he's aware of how dangerous some maac teams can be in an out-of-conference schedule--manhattan, siena, fairfield, iona, even niag if their 3 game is on-- & should (?) be pounding this message from the top down...but there's no doubt the motivational advantage is w/ manhattan tonite...good luck, i'm pulling for you & all other jasper backers...gl, caper

Manhattan has proved they can play on the road. I think they'll force a lot of TOs tonite and if Flores is shooting like he did at Fairfield, the Hall is in trouble.

Looking ahead to the weekend, it will be interesting to see how Manhattan performs vs Niagara and Canisius. The Jaspers are 0-8 in Buffalo the L4 years.

This game is being played at The Continental Airlines Arena at The Meadowlands....

Manhattan does good in The Big Arenas.. That win over St.Johns earliers this year was at Madison Square Garden.

good luck:D
