Nysportsfan has always said that looking up at the Empire State Building is pretty cool.

Oh, and ESPN Sports Zone is a must, according to him.

Almost ashamed to say I haven't been before. I definitely want to explore the unique neighborhoods. Experience New York as a New Yorker does, rather than as a tourist. Will be hitting up all those places you mentioned to be sure.

I ended up watching the entire video that that was taken from. Interesting.

Why be ashamed? It's probably the last place on my list to visit. Rude people. Crime. Annoying accents. Sounds like a blast.

Nothing really to see there except for the Empire State Building, anyways.

The dirty secret about people from San Francisco is while we claim that we live in the best place on Earth, we have a slight inferiority complex when it comes to New York.

New York is what we aspire to, but can never attain.

That being said, people in SF are way nicer (from what I have heard) and we don't have accents. :SIB

:mj07: :mj07: yeah, i said that, i love tourist spots  if you want a good hole in the wall to go to, go down to mc sorleys, an old school irish bar which is just awesome (forgot the address but i think its e.village, just google it)....otherwise AL from 85 degree scottsdale is right, check out the e/w villages some cool bars...sight seeing wise im not big into it, maybe catch a broadway show or comedy or jazz club which there are millions of....on a certain poker site where the numbers add up to 4 theres an nyc "things to do" forum where locals gave great suggestions....enjoy, ignore kosar and these other midwest guys who hate ny yet its all based on what they see on tv on law and order or csi :sadwave:

rude people = check, people have passion and dont want to stand for an hour while some guy with an "I love Ohio" shirt lollygags across the street with his fannypack and binoculars...

crime = negative, unless you go to a bad part of brooklyn or harlem which theres zero chance youd end up in...

annoying accents = partially, too many italian wanna be sopranos who are annoying.

Speaking of shirts. My sister came over to visit from Boynton Beach a couple weekends ago. I go out to the driveway to greet them. My nieces, ages 5 and 6 get out of the van with identical black I (heart) NY t-shirts on.

I asked my sister wtf kind of drugs she was on and threatened to report her to the Child Welfare dept.

I thought the matter was settled until the next night when we're getting ready to go to the legendary Cape Coral Coconut Festival. The kids had those t-shirts on again.

Humiliation doesn't begin to describe it, walking around for 5 hours in public with those sweet innocent girls who had no choice in the matter, wearing those shirts.

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: I'm not a big fan of those dumb shirts either, i have to be honest...but on the real coast of fla, they appreciate good cities with good food and energy..
LOL, the cape, your favorite place! where canals abound and foreclosure signs every 3 feet...But I cant imagine you were happy with those shirts....To me, theyre just kind of cliche and ugly i admit i wouldnt wear one either

Rude is just another way of saying honest. I like the bluntness of New Yorkers. It beats the LA phony smile for sure.

There is no safer city than New York. Nothing bad has ever happened to anyone in NYC.

Being the cosmopolitan worldy man that I am, both cities are fantastic. As a life long midwesterner, I can tell you what it is like from outside looking in.

San Francisco is much easier for the outsider. To get along in New York, you have to think like a New Yorker, aggressiveness and assertiviness abound. Not a place for the thin skinned. In San Francisco, anyone can have a phenomenal time as long as they are tolerant and open minded.

Conservative businsessmen on the cable car next to leathered hard core gay couple making out without anyone giving a shiit has been seen by moi. NYC probably okay with that but definitly on a faster pace. In Cincinnati, thats a felony 4, minimal 2 - 5.

NYC and SF both liberal towns, fast moving, very alive cities. A person can live and breath in both. SF safer in general.
