Is there any other place to be this opening weekend then Vegas....watching 3 or 4 games on big screens at the same time....hearing the live feed of one game but your watching the other 2 games...crowd goes crazy but you don't know why...jumping up and making in line wagering...I made 3 in live plays on the Mid Tenn game and a half time play...5 times more then my original play....of course its much sweeter when you win...anyway nice to start off the extended weekend on a good note.....some of these lines change all the time....
Smoo -6.5 over USC *****
Love Smoo, have been married to them the whole month of Jan-Feb..and why not..they not only beat you but cover every game..they rank No 1 ATS going 22-6....and guess who ranks right behind them at No 2.. Mid Tenn at 24-10 and right next to them..St Peter who was an underdog yest and of course covered and won outright yest...Smoo plays 6 guys all 6'6 -6'7.said it here a hundred times...etc,etc...they won 30 games and lost 4...and USC was one of their losses...79-73...way back in BC { before Christ} Nov...they lost the next day to Boise..since then they won 25 of 26...USC made a great comeback vs Prov..they are good with Boatwright back,love Mac....if they can hit 3's and cause turnovers they can beat Smoo..only problem is everyone forgets Smoo's defense which is ranked No 1 and its not because of a slow down offense...their perimeter defense is outstanding....but its passing game is amazing...unselfish....a real team concept.. Jankvich doesn't get the credit because its all about Brown's kids...think Smoo plays even with USC because they did beat UCLA and are talented..thought USC could sneak in to the 16 but they drew a bad matchup with the Mustangs...Smoo wins by double digits..
Marquette +1.5 over South Carolina ****
Marq can shoot..SC might be a little more athletic and plays good defense..but SC offense sometimes gets lost and when your playing Marq you can't get behind..Sc playing near home but Marq can shoot on a play ground outside and still hit the shot...I had Marq at -2 or -2 so I'm jumping on the points...
URI +1 over Creighton ***
URI has those 2 lefties who can score...their not only hot but really good...this team plays great defense...teams shoot under under 40%....Jays are tough and my favorite team other then North Texas and Marist..thought this team could be a final 4 team..but when Watson went down so did the team..Foster scares me because he is one of the most underrated players in the country...he could be 1st team...Patton is only 2nd to Bell and Jackson as best frosh...should be a great game..heart is with the Blue Jays but think URI wins this in a close game..
Dayton +6 over Wichita ****
So much talk about where the Shockers are seeded..you better watch you Schoocie,Cooke and Pollard...Wich is good...in all phases of the game..tough,good bench,rebounds...beating teams up by over 19 pts all season..but Flyers have a lot playing for with everything that happened last year...McElvines mother is going to be at the game...I think Miller gets his kids up and possibly sends the shockers back to Kansas ..
Oregon -14 over Iona ****
Ok we know they lost their top shot blocker...they avg 79 pts a game,shoot 48%FG 23rd in the country..and hit 37% of 3's 57th...Brooks is a big time scorer and PAC POY...he reminds om of the Knicks Melo...Dorsey and Ennis are outstandinds gds...inside they have 6'9 Bell and now 6'11 Williams replacing Boucher...I said this before..we all look at their offense..Ducks can play defense..they give up only 65 pts a game and one of the best 3 pt perimeter defenses...also they own the def bds...Iona can shoot the 3,loaded with 5 gds,but can't play defense.They are one of the worst rebounding teams giving up tons of offensive bds..they have 1 post player Washington at 6'8..he avg 18 pts and 7 bds...and although this yr he has been better he is always in foul trouble...vs the Ducks front line he could have 2 fouls the 1st 6 minutes....Iona's strength is gds..but Ducks have 3 great gds ..this team shares the ball with 6 players with 61,62,71,81,106 and 131 assists..that is amazing...the over is 152.5...Iona avg 80 pts and gives up 76...Iona will get 10-14 pts inside..the rest has to come by the gds..shooting 3/s..Oregon will score 80-85...maybe more...but Ducks could shut down the perimeter...food for though for you over-under guys..
