I wrote this long detailed post about HHonors and the browser crashed.

Basically a quick rewrite, the 2nd quarter promo blows this year at 1000 points a night however, Virgin airlines promo is 3000 fixed airlines miles a night and are converted at 1:1 into HHonors in 5k increments.

Also, both Hyatt and SPG will grant platinum if you shoot them a screen shot of your Diamond status at HH.

I've got a Am Ex Surpass now for Hotel stays and am pulling in over 24 points per dollar spent. Talk about accruing points! :0074

Could come in handy and thought I'd pass along.

yup. already been aware of the q2 disappointment with Hilton.

Hyatt is doing a decent promo, but with their limited coverage of hotels, it's just not quite worth jumping ship yet.

And with the Suprass card - I think its 28 points per dollar you'll be earning as a Diamond. It's friggin nice!

Am hoping to see some more airline promos with Hilton for this quarter, I'm really hoping to see something with Star Alliance.

Matched Starwood platinum at the start of this year, and once they announce their promo I'm probably going to be spending Q2 at their properties - I've heard rumors that it's going to be free nights, but you can't always believe the rumors.

Good info in Starwood and you are correct on Surpass as a diamond. I've hit my mark for diamond this year already with over 28 stays so Starwood is very tempting.

I love free night promos.

Wife and I are doing Hilton head for 6 nights and two rooms and well as San Destin Hilton for 4 nights two rooms for $0 and free breakfasts. That close to $4k in rate savings not to mention she has a girls trip to Miami in July. I used the Hilton Q3FN certs from last years 2 quarter promo.

I was Soooooo hoping for another free nights promo this quarter.... Oh well!

i recently booked 8 nights in hawaii - 5 of which are at the Grand Wailea Waldort Astoria on maui. all on points.

snagged a free car rental for the week in maui with hilton points too.

over xmas stayed at the DT in Times Square for a few nights as well.

i figure i've saved about 8k in room costs on those two vacations alone with hilton. god bless them.

Hiltonhead - the one down in Carolina? let me know how that goes. wife really wants to go there, but I've always read reviews that have a constant theme of poor Diamond treatment, and overall unfriendly/unimpressive customer service there.

Yea, trip advisor doesn't have a lot of nice things to say. But seeing as I spend over half the year in a Hilton, I write a nice letter anticipating leisure time to the manager and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Congrats on The Hawaii trip! That is awesome! My wife just will not fly that far away.

I'll circle back on our return May 9th. Its with another couple and we're heading over in a 2011 Buick Enclave courtesy of National for only concession fees. :0008Two couples in their own rooms and rental car = $cost of the concession/facility fees for the car. Can't beat it!

Spa for the girls and golf for the guys. :0074

I loooove rewards points. :00hour

I love them as well. I am a Marriott Platinum guy just because of hotel availability in my territory and Company. Their promo at this time is 25 nights and get 50,000 bonus points. WHATEVER! Already have that one qualified, was hoping for HH to have free nights as well. Stayed there only 11 nights this year. Best one I had was Starwood last year, had a stay 3 nights during March and April and get a free night for every 3. Hosted a Seminar last April at the Westin Buckhead here in Atlanta and had 160 rooms booked in my name (and customers name) and paid on my credit card, pre-approved by Visa, plus meeting rooms and food. Had 15 people at the W next door. Only supposed to get credit for up to 3 people per night, total of 4 nights. Told them I would do at Marriott then, no problem. Needless to say in last years economy, they backed off.

Negotiated that for the promo I would receive 15 free nights to be used at any property in their World chain, and the points. And switched half (80 people) to my boss's card and he received the same thing. That is a great deal. Cost me no personal money.

Had Hannahs 18th b-day party there at the W last Summer with 10 girlfriends for the weekend and got best Suite, they had a blast, we also received a mini-suite while there. Awesome free cake, food, etc. for the girls. First Class Group.

Flyertalk doesnt have nice things to say about hiltonhead either. i usually use them for reviews because most of the people there are brand loyal and do a lot of traveling vice the 1 vacation a year types found on tripadvisor.

wish i knew you used national car rental. i just gave away about 5 free day certificates because i never use them other than for work.

Given that we are Diamonds and we are set as Points & Points I'm figuring the calculation to be this:

Hilton Accrual for being Diamond
[10,000*10pts] (diamond accrual) + [10,000*5pts] (points & points bonus 50%) + [10,000*5pts] (50% diamond bonus on each base point)
PLUS
Amex Accrual for having the Surpass Card
[10,000*9pts] (assuming all monies spent at the Hilton property)

This would translate to 290,000 total points for $10,000 USD spent at the Hilton Properties and 100,000 base points which is the re-qualify for Diamond

Woody,

Does Hyatt have the transfer program for Marriott people also? How do you find out about this stuff? I need to venture out. Marriott in Bowling Green is costing me 10k points, :toast:
