The Seattle Mariners sent pitcher Brandon Morrow to Class AAA Tacoma on Tuesday, beginning the righthander?s transition from reliever to starter.
Morrow, 24, has been stellar out of the bullpen for Seattle this season, posting a 1.47 ERA with 10 saves in 40 appearances. He has surrendered just 18 hits in 36 2/3 innnigs, striking out 47.
In a corresponding move, the Mariners recalled pitcher Jared Wells, who was acquired from the San Diego Padres for Cha Seung Baek, from Tacoma.
In 25 games with the Rainiers, Wells has posted a 6.83 ERA in 27 2/3 innings.
