I grew up in the area reading and hearing about Todd.
Jeff Peace, who is shown several times in the story is a great kid, and has his own story. His family lost their home and they were living in a van in the Mission Viejo High School Parking lot. He went to UOP and threw for huge yards per games, I think one game he had over 600 yards.
Todd had a pot head friend whose name is very similiar to mine, take out the "I" and insert the "O" The guy was a real dick. Anyways, in early AUG of 86 he wrecked his mom's BMW, totally wasted, pot and heroin in the car. My Army recruiter read the story and thought it was me. He called my mom, she freaked out, until she saw that I was in my room.
Todd was also drafted by the CA Angels.
My brother palyed against Todd 2 times, he was the QB at another High School in South OC. Needless to say, Capo Valley put a beat down on my Alma Mater.
In this league there were epic QB battles, Todd vs Bret Johnson (El Toro) Todd vs. Rob Johnson (El Toro) Todd vs Peace (Mission Viejo)
Steve Stenstom was in that League, John Barnes, Carson Palmer and his brother :shrug: there were some big time High School QB's in that League.
Another thing the story missed, and I know the stroy was about Todd's struggles. 3 students from Capo Valley High School were caught on the El Toro High Campus, hiding in a van Video Taping El Toro's practice :142smilie I got the whole story from my Old High School Coach because he was the Dean of Students at El Toro and caught the kids. The OC Sheriff was called in, and after a short investigatiom and interrogation the kids broke down and gave up Head Coach Dick Enright, who was also on the story, who told the kids you either fail Phys Ed or Pass by taping the practice. :facepalm:
Enright was fired, DUH !
I have seen Todd several times in Newport when he was fucked up and when he is sober. He is a great kid, I have heard people give him shit about his choices and heard him fire back, but now he just walks it off. :0074

Too bad his father didn't invest a little in head shrinking for little Todd. What a screwed-up upbringing that must have been. Switching his high schools might have been the worst thing.

He has two kids and lives in California in the same area. Got in a bad accident surfing, something involving a Beluga whale and an Albatross and he only has one eye and speaks with a voice box.

Didn't say much of what he's doing except some artwork with his Dad. Not sure if that's his only source of income?
He has kids and he was wearing a wedding band although I didn't see his wife wearing one.
It's a great documentary. I found myself boo-hooing at the end as my Dad is a hard-ass just like Marv but you know there's a guy in there wanting to be a loving Dad.
I hope those 2 can have a great relationship down the road.
Me, not happening I'm afraid.
