At Olympic they've got a REALLY nice matchup between Ricky Craven & Kyle Petty both -115. Petty has had some really sad incidents to happen to him and his family this year. This is certainly not meaning to be rude, but I don't think Kyle Petty should be running in the Winston Cup. He has TWO DNQ's so far this year and his last 3 races he wound up in 41st, 35th, and 42nd. His finish average for the past two years is 30th. I actually took him last week vs. one of his teammates Buckshot Jones and of course he lost. Looked good for the first 20 laps and then just kept slipping farther and farther back. I don't think he has the car or crew to be competitive in this league.

Although Craven is no superstar, he has the much better car and crew. He was Rookie of the Year a few years back in Winston Cup and has had a 5th and 13th place finishes so far this year with zero DNQ's. He also had the SEVENTH fastest practice run during Happy Hour today.

If Craven can keep out of trouble, I see no way in hell Petty's crew can keep up. This should be a easy matchup win vs. a much less talented team....

Bluegrass!
couple more and I'm outta here......

Stewart vs. Burton:

Tony still holds track record at 95mph which was accomplished last year. He sits 16th in points, and he knows he has to have a good finish to keep the WCC within reach. Stewart had a fantastic practice today finishing 2nd in lap time and speed. Qualified 16th in which he still has a viable chance to win the race.

Burton on the other hand has had a tremendously disappointing season. Lots of Nascar folks thought Burton would be one of they guys that would be competing for the Championship. Best finish so far this season has been 19th at Daytona and Harrah's 500. Qualified 4th....

Harvick vs. Rudd:

Also a disappointing season so far for Rudd and his crew. Average finish this year is 17th and wound up 10th and 37th in last two races. Harvick's success has been well documented this year as the rookie won the Daytona 500. He's certainly got the car and probably has the best crew and team in Nascar. This kid can flat out drive for a rookie...

Park vs. Marlin:

Two great drivers who are having a fantastic year. I still think Park has one of the strongest cars this year as he's damn near won 3 out of 7 races. Sterling also has an impressive car and team, but I think Park will get the better of him tomorrow.

Johnny Benson vs. Mike Skinner:

I don't understand this at all especially at -115. Both teams with similiar runs in qualifying and Happy Hour results but Benson with the much much better year so far. Better driver...& better car. Should finish way ahead of Skinner and some are picking him as their dark horse to win the race...

Soooooo,....my two favorites are: Craven & Benson while I'll also be throwing a few coins on Park, Stewart, & Harvick

NOTE: Thought this to be interesting as well: Johnny Benson is 18-1 to win the race while Bill Elliott is 50-1. Olympic has both of 'em in a matchup with Benson being the slight fav...

By the way guys one reason I passed is. Here again where you pit can be so important. But Neemer believe it was you who said look out for tires. We had to wait and see, now we know for sure. Believe some of the drivers we may think are at a disadvantage because they pit so far back. I say many take 2 tires and throw that theory out the door. Being a small track all can drive it. Some who have done nothing this year may show up here. Week after Easter (they never race on Easter) we go back to a big track any only some will shine again. G L.

i will try my luck with some matchups.
ytd 0-0

1 unit Pressley(-115) over Kenny Wallace.

Pressley not exactly my favorite driver to back and KW is better on short tracks, but... track position important here and Pressley qualified very well(5th), Wallace not so well(28th). Pressley had a mid-pack happy hour run and Wallace was among the slowest.

1 unit Craven(-115) over K Petty

see Neemers writeup. Petty with poor starting position and a slow HH run. Craven 7th fastest during HH.

1 unit Mayfield(-115) over Mark Martin

Martin won here last year but 30 positions is alot to make up at Martinsville plus Martin as yet to show much this year. Mayfield has not exactly been on fire either but feel like he has a shot at contending for the win here.

1 unit Dale Earnhardt Jr.(+100) over Ward Burton

here is Ward's comment after qualifying on Friday : "The car was a piece of junk. The guys are working hard, and I'm working hard, but we just aren't getting anything done." He sounded a little more optomistic after HH on Sat (and actually ran a faster time than Jr) but i'll still take a shot with Dale Jr here.

1 unit Benson(-120) over Waltrip

Waltrip has not done much this year since his Daytona breakthru. While it's not Benson's favorite track by any means i'll go with him here.

good luck to everyone.

Neems I was just telling TBT. I was setting out this week. But with grazy stuff that can happen at this track. Maybe at 25 to 1 its time for a field bet. I did not count yet but believe you get about 20 drivers. Cheap way to play a little.

Finished 2-3, but +3.5 units on the day. Should have put more on the Craven/Petty matchup. I agree with you Neemer, Petty shouldn't be on the WC circuit.

lol, forget my lame analyses. track position is not important, when ever there is a caution/pit, it's like musical chairs as to who will be where. the most important factor : who will wreck and who will not. 4 of 5 of my matchups were determined by the other driver crashing. ward burton's car did suck though, so i guess i got that one.

4-1 +2.85
