MASS SHOOTING IN ORLANDO

A couple of points. First, I have migraines, and there are times when I'd like to combine the gun situation and my migraine as a solution. My sister had them so bad she had to go to the emergency room for a shot. From what I've read and understand, marijuana is a good help to those with this and a couple other pain issues. I know Crown Royal helps me from time to time...

I find the irony rampant in here of late, calling out a poster for his reported drug use/abuse, while finding another thread to promote the praises of Rush Limbaugh. I swear, you can't make it up...

Finally, at the risk of starting a posting brushfire, the only connection I have been able to find with all of these mass shootings lately, and for a long time, is the use of guns. I realize that's a touchy subject, but it remains an issue. These people are clearly mentally burdened, but I think it's far too easy for someone "crazy" to go out and get a gun - quickly, easily, etc. I don't have an answer offhand, I just think some gun laws do a good job of protecting people from this kind of thing happening. In some cases, that is. The waiting period, for instance. I don't know how anyone can deny that in some cases, a 3-day or one-week wait period to obtain a firearm would prevent some of these attacks. Some, it sure wouldn't. A tough situation, for sure.

First off Chadman

I would love to pour a stiff whiskey on the rocks, but that doesn't go well with my meds.

You are correct, the irony of it all of hedgy calling me out for self medicating where as Rush was abusing to the point he went deaf.

By him and others cut from the shit stained cloth by spewing hatred because of the ethnicity of the shooters. It's just too much, it's no wonder someone as gung ho as he is has never packed the gear, he would get a blanket party daily.

As far as these two individuals aquiring their firearms, it's difficult to tell. I know in Texas, you can purchase a gun and take it home the same day. I don't know about the waiting period in Florida. Here in Ca, it's a 10 day waiting period, but when it comes to someones mental instability, they can hold onto that for long periods of time.
Which was the case in Florida.

What was the race of the guy who shot up Luby's in Killeen Hedge?

I'm not familiar with what you're asking about, illuminati. I heard the release put out by the family in the Ft. Hood situation, that the guy was American born and educated, lived a pretty normal kind of life, and this was very out of the norm for him, as far as behavior, etc.

Let me ask you specifically, since I know gun rights are important to you. I work for a hunting and fishing newspaper, part time, so I know the value of hunting and guns - all the good the money does that comes from licenses, etc. Do you think that a waiting period is an unnecessary thing? Don't you think at least a short period of time to wait before obtaining a weapon in a conventional sales situation is a good idea? I just can't see a situation where (for instance) a 3-day wait period couldn't be a sensible thing. I can't imagine that a wait period hasn't saved numerous lives over the years, in many scenarios. And I can't imagine that whatever supposed inconvenience or "threatening of individual rights" is more important than that? I seriously would like your opinion.

And I'm sorry, but I'll NEVER understand why it's important for a common citizen to be allowed to purchase an assault weapon, or a weapon like an AK-47, military type weapons that can be used for something other than sheer sport, hunting. Collecting is one thing, but I don't think the public interest is served by anything of that nature.

I agree with you. There is a difference between arming yourself and assault weapons.

I agree with the waiting period, most definately !
The guy in Florida had been planning his assault for quite some time, so my point was, any waiting period would not have made a difference.

I do believe Major Nadal had his firearms for a few months purchased at a gun store in Killeen. At that time he could have been planning this attack? In Texas you can buy a gun and take it home the same day, but even if there were a 3 day waiting period, it also wouldn't have made a difference. There are times where situations like this unfortunately fall thru the cracks.

I have been on the deployment line at Fort Hood, granted we were going to Kosovo, so not much risk there, but I have been deployed from other Forts as well, and I have heard all the excuses and crying why the soldier shouldn't go.

Should someone own an assault rifle to commit bambicide? Why not, but you better get a head shot, if not you will tear up the meat. On the other side of the coin, how many fuck sticks are running around with them?

**** on a side note, I couldn't beileve what I heard the dim with on MSNBC say today, With everyone on Post running around totally armed, why couldn't they have easily stopped the gunman Col ****

WHAT ! ! Wtf does this idiot think an Army Base Fort does? That at all hours everyone is packing?

The Col. squared her away quickly, after chuckling at the notion
