heart shaped box 2 cm deep,25cm long and 20 cm across. Estimate the volume of fudge she will have to make to fill the box.
I know I'm begging but what is the answer and how do you get the answer?
My daughter's grade 9 math project.
thank you

I just wrote an answer and then realised you said heart shape. Ha.

No bloody idea, but I assume you would need to break it down into component shapes (perhaps 2 semi-circles and a triangle) and use the different formual from there..

Just finished my own daughters maths homework coincidentally.

Judge's answer is pretty close to mine. You have to break it down as best you can into workable pieces - 2 semi circles and a triangle is what I used. I got something close to 550 give or take.

The difference will be in how the heart is drawn. I used two semi circles with radii of 5 cm and then drew the lines forming the sides of the triangle to be tangent to the semi circles.

You guys are making this far too difficult. The answer is ZERO. She could just buy the damn fudge and not make any. Or fill it with something else. It's a math question. Why the hell would she make fudge?

I'm thinking if these estimates are incorrect and she runs out of fudge before filling the tin....

...she's gonna have a mad-on and come lookin' to whoop some poster's a$$ for selling her short.... :cursin:

Make about four gallons worth and save someone an embarrassing date with a pi$$ed off 9th grader.

i get volume of 657.08 cm^3

Oops, 557.08. lower triangle should be 20 cm x 20 cm.
