Math Stumper

[DR STRANGELOVE]

Here is a math trick!

1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)

2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area
code)

3. Multiply by 80

4. Add 1

5. Multiply by 250

6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

8. Subtract 250

9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

Well I am stumped as to why certain phone numbers dont work. Sure seems like they should all work if you do the equations with variables. :shrug:

Humor me here for a second. Do your phone number again and if you're using a calculator, after each step hit the = sign before doing the next step.

If this still gives you some other number, then I am really gonna :banghead:

Not sure what you're doing wrong, but something is amiss. I just wrote a quick computer program to run through all possible 7-digit phone numbers, compared the result to the original number, and they all work.
