Anyone else see value in Mayorga here? Line opened +450, I'm not sure about it, I was hoping for +500 or more.

Mosley has speed, skill and reflexes, but Mayorga has sheer power and will. Mosley does not have the stiff jab that Oscar did, nor the KO power of Trinidad.

I can see Mayorga just storming from the bell showing no respect for Mosley's power, and possibly landing a bomb as the fight goes on. It will be difficult to keep Mayorga at bay, Mosley relies on combinations and slick counters, Mayorga takes 2 to give 1.

Mayorga has excellent conditioning, the real question is whether his chin has been damaged. I give him a chance here. Mosley's not getting any younger, while Mayo's style doesn't age as quickly.

p.s. MayorgaFan, you are legally obligated to give your input here ;)

and I dont see this as a fight that Mayorga has to get the KO win.

I though Forrest beat Mayorga convincingly in the 2nd fight with clean, accurate punching, but the judges gave it to Mayorga based on aggression and strength.

This same scenario could pan out again. Mayorga has diminished yes, but this Mosley is worse than that Forrest, so it goes both ways.

The key comparison is the weak jabs by the injured Forrest and the current Mosley, Forrest landed the better combinations but still lost, it may happen to Mosley as well.

Mayorga just made enough money to last him 5 more years in Nicaragua. He'll show up out of shape. Mosely will KO him.

....

....

There's no value anywhere in this fight. Let's be honest, Mosley gave Cotto all he could handle. Mayorga only barely beat Vargas. Mosley is going to hit Mayorga with shots he won't see. Those are the punches he reacts so badly to. I pick Mosley to knock Mayorga out later in the fight.

mayorga`s gonna get handled here,imo.. ...one of the greatest disappointments in my gambling life was the fact that they never made mayorga/margarito at the height of all the mayorga hype.....

he did beat a prime forrest..which is still one of the great boxing mysteries of the ages...

yikes! I bought small +450, should be able to buy Mosley -450 later if necessary, no big loss.

Mayorga just made enough money to last him 5 more years in Nicaragua. He'll show up out of shape. Mosely will KO him.

You mean in his last fight, or did I miss something in between? That was a year ago, and from what Ive seen of Mayorga I doubt he's investing in real estate :)

What amazes me is how Mayorga always show up well-conditioned against expectations, like vs Forrest 2 and Vargas.

MayorgaFan and gardenweasel, thanks for the input. In the Cotto fight, Mosley had a lot of free space and ended up being the aggressor late, perhaps I underestimated Mosley's power, or Cotto wasn't confident in his chin. Mayorga's chin has been rock-solid and should be decent this fight, he could get KOed late through combinations, but I think Mayorga's power will make Mosley hesitate to trade. Mayorga will apply the pressure Cotto didn't down the stretch. Vargas was basically immobile and extremely slow in his fights with Mosley.

The wild card of Mosley's age, his style is definitely the more diminished through age between them.

I saw a +500 about an hour ago. It went down to +475 now. I like Mosely.

In the Vargas fight, Mayorga was facing a bigger man with better punching power and heavy body armour (flab), and seemed more respectful of his power. The 166lb limit was ridiculous, at a reasonable weight Mayorga probably would have taken him out. Mosley is a blown-up 154lb, if Mayorga makes the weight comfortably he'll have the big size and strength advantage.

Then again, Mosley is far better in footwork and defense than Vargas.

sportsbetting has over 7.5 -180, i dont have an account there but to me that looks like a terrific play, much better than either fighter. there's a very good chance this goes the distance. here's hoping 5d copies that line!!!!!!

What weight are they fighting at? I can't imagine Mayorga comfortably making 154?

Mayorga +631 (pinny).

Time to make a move, I'm not convinced that Ricardo will win, but those odds seem to be off...

Mayorga is an enigma; i won one of my biggest bets when i took him by decision against Forrest 2, but the guy has been a headcase ever since.

He definitely didn't show up in shape for his fight against Lola, an incredibly dumb move, and even threatened King with pulling out of the fight if he didn't give him another million or two.

Now, if that's not corruption, i don't know what is.

Mayorga needs to be convinced he can win a fight to show up in shape.

Where that leaves us here is anybody's guess.

Boy that line looks ridiculous which makes me wonder if the books know something is wrong with Mayorga. To me there is no justification for a line to be that lopsided in this fight. I know styles make fights but to see a guy who beat Forrest twice against a guy who lost twice to Forrest but the line is this lopsided, makes me run for the hills. I thought Mayorga looked decent in his win over Vargas and now he is a 6 to 1 dog. Whew:shrug:

I have a pretty hefty bet on Mayorga at +633.

Shane is one of my favourite fighters but I think he has lost a step. He now gets tired in fights. I think Mayorga might mug him.

Good luck all.

shane`s never been stopped....

are you guys saying that mayorga outpoints mosely?....
5 or 10 years ago Mosley murders Mayorga without breaking a sweat.

I think Mosley has lost more than Mayorga ever had.

Mayorga is big, strong and can punch. Mosley is at the stage where he could grow very old over night and at these odds I will take a shot at Mayorga mugging him.
