pretty good guy, especially after I saw his stand up act at the Alfred Smith dinner, and Obama was pretty comical too. It's too bad that the american public didnt get a chance to see this side of McCain, as a portion of the population feels he is an angry far right guy, but he really is a good guy.

I agree. Obama and McCain, even GWB, are all apparently personable men. I often wonder why card-carrying members of either party feel the need to hate the other party's candidate. I can see hating Howard Dean or Hillary because they come off as a**holes, but slick willy, GWB, McC, and Obama all seem like cool guys to me.

I guess it's human nature to bash the "rival" -- hell I do it with the Dallas Cowboys all the time, even when they win the Super Bowl I'm claiming that I see flaws :mj07:

In all seriousness, McCain is an American-Hero, of the likes we don't often see, and has lived a hell of a life in my opinion. POW turned Senator, have to respect this accomplishments and intellect. I do not agree with a lot of McCain's policies, and Sarah Palin scares me, but he's an American Hero nonetheless.

In 2000 I said I was voting for Gore but would rather have a beer with GWB. In 2008 McCain is my pick to share a cold one, would love to ask him some questions. I do not think he's the best choice to be the President in 2008, but he's the one I'd most like to meet.

still waiting for that coal shale link.

:sadwave:

What is this lightbulb thing you talk about? What is a radio? What is a telephone? What is this television you speak of? No way America can develop the next generation of energy technology. Drill baby drill.

Wease, I think that since you are SO afraid of what could happen in the next four years (or so), I thought I'd help that along. Don't forget the new way of doing business in the White House thanks to Bush and Co. Not only will the dems have a veto-proof majority, anything else Obama wants to do he can just whip out his...um...pen and add his own personal signing statement to any legislation or parts of it he wants to undermine. Yeah, it was possible before, but when Rove saw that loophole, he took Cheney's shotgun to it and blasted even bigger usage holes in the fabric of adminstrative "power."

Although, I can only assume that would be ok with you guys now, though, since it repeatedly was no big deal or concern when Bush was doing it. At least not enough of a big deal when it was something you guys felt important enough to give unlimited power to one man about.

Those damn chickens eventually do have to come home to roost, don't they?

Back to the original topic, I always thought McCain to be a great deadpan humorist - he was always great on Letterman and Leno, and good for a dry quip. The past few months, though, he just looks old and shaky to me, not nearly the impressive personable guy he used to act like in that situation.

Sheesh, if the race has aged him this much, just think what a couple of years in the White House would do to him? Trying to fix the messes we now find ourselves in, and having Palin as his go-to gal for advice?

The fact is that attack ads work. It's a shame, but if you don't attack, you generally don't win.

Pretty much agree with everything you said about McCain. Not voting for him, but no disdain for him at all.

No hate for McCain here. I find most of the hate is coming from the right towards Obama. Right Wing Radio has been terrible towards him. I would say even worse than they were to Clinton. You want to stop the hate start with Right Wing Radio.
