they couldn`t just blatantly do it,or they`d get blamed for losing the war...that would have given the neocons an out...

they tried to tie it to other stuff in bills but couldn`t get them through...

there were some dems for which bluntly cutting off funding to the troops was a bridge to far...

Of course they couldn't. I agree.

They still get blamed for us losing in Vietnam even after us giving it a go for a good 9 years of heavy fighting and making no headway to speak of.

So yeah, 'cutting off funds' is a curse word in Washington.

the dems wanted to stop funding, they wanted out so badly.....the dems ran on getting out of iraq, the faster the better...

Damn right. And what will history show that we've accomplished by staying in Iraq since we captured Saddam and eliminated his mutant offspring? When it's done... 5000 troops dead, 50,000 troops injured, a couple hundred thousand Iraqi's dead and injured and a trillion dollars spent? FOR WHAT???

trench....go back in time and check out some old threads back around the time of the invasion.....pull em up if you want....

i really don`t feel like rehashing the rationale yet again...

but, saddam was on borrowed time after being driven out of kuwait..he was allowed to stay in power because he signed the cease fire agreement(which he subsequently breached over and over again)....

i doubt anybody on here that has gray hair on their balls wants to argue about this again...

we`ve got enough on our plates...

nuclear pakistan is disintegrating....

russia invading a neighbor....and maybe more..

iran heading for a nuclear capability.....

chavez with more threats...

a mideast war involving israel is inevitable ...probably within the next administration....

evangelicals decide that mclame`s v.p. choice(pro or anti-abortion:rolleyes: ) will determine their vote.....

we are so screwed....

I don't remember. But I don't think it was a Liberial that said leave Nam now. And gave the order. It was time if all we were going to do is same thing over and over.
As for Iraq at least Gobama seems to have got it right. Time is answer in things like this. Some times 20/25 years.

...............................................................

Such a simple question to most Americans.

How many homes do you own.

McCain - uhhhhhh, uhhhh, let me count my wifes homes, one, ...........ahhhhh you will have to ask my staff that .

Reporter - You dont know how many homes you own ?

McCain - Listen you little c.... when you make over 100 million you kinda lose track of the little details.

Get it pardner !

Your scattered posts rarely address the question.

I want to know why it was different that Kerry married into money, compared to McCain.

Why?

No difference that they married into money--its what they had before they did. McCain was finacially stable and had had purchased several houses on his own.

Speaking of homes appears several think to many homes is dterimental--but being a finacial hack with credit card debt like O is an asset.

--and speaking of similiarities--we have instant replay from last election--

While Keery was whining bout lower income peoples plight and 2 America;s seemed he stifted charities for "0" in several years while ole oli rich greedy GW gave more than Kerry earned in several years.

No diff this year--If one is a miniom of media-you'd think O is the poor mans advocate with his continuous rhetroric on subject--and maybe he is when it comes to tax payors $, but as far as his personal convictions actions speak louder than words--and ole rich and greedy Mac--wonder what his real convictions are--

"Another example of actions speaking louder than words can be found when we listen to Obama's money talk. According to Obama's tax returns from 2000-2006, the Obamas have given far less to charity than John McCain has. In all but the two most recent years reported, the Obamas gave around 1% or less of their income to charity. Their contributions increased in 2005 and 2006 to 4.7% and 6.1% respectively, but still are far short of those of McCain who gave 28.6% in 2006 and 27.3% in 2007. But if you listen to Obama's words you will hear that he is very concerned about the least among us."

So far the only real "change" O has been personally involved with is the change in his pocket he's allocated to the less fortunate.

It's a good thing Kerry and his rich wife didn't win or we'd be sold out to big ketchup now.

ANWR would one big tomato patch. The midwest would be dotted with tomethanol plants. Then big mustard... oops... mustard gas -- bad idea.
