This is the best I've ever heard him speak. Calm, cool and collected. Where was this over the past few months?

McCain gave a great speech. Too bad they tried to appeal to the stupid with Joe the Plumber and Ellie Mae Palin. If they kept it on a higher level they might have done better. But props to McCain for the speech.

Palin much better than Biden

My great hope is Barry stays safe and the good Lord protects him.

Nothing scares me more than a Biden Presidency:scared :scared :scared

McCain had way to much Bush baggage from the beginning. All Obama had to do was show that picture of Bush and McCain hugging. The race was over before it started. His pick of Palin solidified the loss.

I agree; what a terrific and classy speech. I hope all of the politicians can learn from this example.

Watching Johnny Mac last night reminded me of why exactly I voted for him in the 2000 primaries....i voted in Michigan back then.....I have always been against the current sitting president, and really think we would be in much better shape had any of the players from the major parties who ran that year (2000), McCain, Gore and Bradley had won out.

But, the speech was so classy and so the opposite of GWB, that I was a bit wistful that McCain could not carry the Iowa and NH momentum he had in 2000....of course, that was a long time ago and last nght was the only time I saw McCain channel his old self during this election cycle.

His time to make a difference for America is far from over. I see a great close to his career as a Senator.....and, this may rankle the more partisan Dems on this forum.....but this Obama supporter would like to see Barry-O reach out and give McCain a cabinet position or use him as an advisor of sorts, even in an unoffciial capacity.

If he wants to make a legit bi-partison reach across the table, thats what I would do.

Also, I thought Obama's speech was pretty damn classy as well, especailly his comments on McCain.

I believe he would consider McCain for a cabinet position, however, I also believe it may be taken as a political slap in the face by some even though it wasn't meant that way. It was a good speech but there have been many before him that gave a good consolation speech. One speech doesn't seperate him from his actions, or lack thereof, of the last 28 years.

What exactly was he supposed to do? Keep on calling Obama a terrorist? Just so funny how people just forgive him for the campaign he ran. Lie after lie with a broad who lied even more. Hires the same guys who torched him in 2000. I have lost all the respect i had for this man and it was a lot. One night wipes out 9 months of garbage. Go figure.

You do realize that the campaigns run against these guys were scumbag tactics don't you? I do remember when it was finally stolen from Gore he did have a great speech. Kerry i don't remember and really don't care.

One thing you mentioned unknowingly here is that both were poor sports. McCain tried to unify his base, get them to give Obama a chance, support him as presiden, put the loss on himself as a candidate instead of the ones who voted for him, etc.

Now that all of this is thankfully over, I'm ready for the country to move ahead, and I'm going to give him an honest chance.

I could be wrong but i don't remember in my lifetime people in other countries applauding our country for making this decision in an election. To me this is huge. I must have seen ten different countries applauding and they were not all black nations.
