Rush Limbaugh et al, all DMac has ever done is win a lot of games and hes proving it once again now that he's healthy ... so many thought he was horrible, he suddenly went from great to horrible to great--hmm, i guess hes OK ;) ...

gl to D mac and the eagles, I love what hes done--doesnt talk smack plays hurt and rallies team ... and for the bashers who said hes never won a super bowl, what have U ever won in your life? .. winning a lot of games and getting to nfc finals aint shabby ...

Im sorry I just love this guy's heart and class and had to say somethig nice about him since mostly this board bashes and doesnt praise, and if one does praise too many others want to bash, pig pile style ... not down on anyone in particular, b/c I have done same thing on occasion (i.e. ricky williams being over rated) but we have to admit, we can cheap shot all we want and less that .001% of us could take a single ordinary NFL hit and not see Tweety Bird ...

happy holidays to all

Only shows what blithering idiots those Eagles fans were that booed McNabb's selection in the draft. Even though I had the Fins last night I think McNabb and the Eagles are the team to beat.

Limbaugh knows dick about anything and definitely knows dick about the NFL.

Oops, sorry. I forgot he is very knowledgeable about painkiller abuse.:thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :D

If he remains uninjured he's going to be tough to keep out of the Superbowl this year. He's a winner both on and off the field.Don't bet against him in the playoffs.

If you're making $10mil a year, get out there and get it done.

You've got to realize what a passionate fans mind-set is, before you bash the fan for bashing the players. Some hate for the wrong reasons, and some hate because their passionate. Doesn't necessarily mean they literally "hate" a player. There's no denying McNabb's heart or his abilities. They're both on display every weekend. He's done a lot of great things in his short career, but he really hasn't won anything yet. I think he'd tell you that too, if you had the chance to ask him. You know he's the kind of guy who doesn't just pay lip service to the cliche's talking about team first, and personal accolades don't mean anything. He's the kind of guy who gives up for the team. That, and the fact that he's VERY talented, are what makes him the highest paid pro football player in the world. I like the guy because he actually earns it.

Good thread Pt1. You're dead on that there's too much bashing, and not enough praise.

pt1gard:

i definitely agree that many are quick to criticize and slow to compliment. thats a disease thats ubiquitous in gambling, life, and sports alike.

that being said, i personally think mcnabb is a mediocre quarterback and --generall speaking -- a little overrated. but that doesnt diminish the fact that he handled the limbaugh situation with class and that he is a classy guy, if just an above average qb.

Imo, McNabb is much better than average. Right now, I would rate him a very good to great QB. Does he have weaknesses? Yes, but he has improved dramatically. His deep passing game needs work, but he has improved and will get better. He is a great leader. He is mobile and strong as hell. He doesn't get brought down easy and when he busts out of the pocket he is a dual threat. He never has had a great group of receivers. Although, I think they are getting better. There have been numerous drops this year. His running game has been only adequate. The addittion of Westbrook has been a lift.

Two of my best friends are Giant fans and we have had a friendly rivalry over the last couple of years. Both of them have stated they think Collins is a better QB than Mcnabb. I completely disagree with them.... imo, Collins will find ways to lose a game, while Mcnabb will find a way to win a game. Collins will march the Giants up and down the field and have great stats, but still make that crucial mistake. Mcnabb can look bad for a whole game, and then do something spectacular to win it at the end. Bottom line I think he is a winner.

As far as Philly fans booing Mcnabb during the draft. Well, that was not everyone, but at the time R.Williams looked like a real stud an we needed a RB. Rb's are usually easier to project in the pros's than QB's. There still are alot of Philly fans think Mcnabb is not that great. Earlier this year the radio talk shows were full of people calling for Donavan to be benched. People were clamoring for the 3rd string QB (Feely). The mentality of some of the fans in Philly never ceases to amaze me. They are very passionate, but......

Some never totally accepted Randal Cunningham either. Could this be coincidental... Nah, not in Philly...

My QB rankings;

Great:
1. Manning
2. Mcnair

Good-Great
3. Mcnabb
4. Favre - starting to slip imo
5. Vick - soon will be up top
6. Culpepper

Above Average
7. Brady - another winner
8. Pennington - I like this guy alot
9. T.Green - he has alot of weapons
10. B.Johnson
11. J.Kitna - having a great year moving up
12. Brunell - might have some gas in tank
13. M.Hassleback -moving up
14. Bulger - not completely sold on this guy.

Average
15. Bledsoe
16. Plummer
17. Garcia
18. Brooks
19. Collins
20. Delhomme
21. Maddox
22. Gannon - could be done
23. Leftwich - will get better
24. Carr - not sold on him

Below Average
25. Holcomb/Couch
26. Fiedler
27. Ramsey
28. Carter - This guy sucks

Good post Fatboy. Your intimation that racism is at work in Philly as regards QBs is precisely correct and very sad and pathetic.

It is true in many other NFL cities also among fans. It is too bad really. But McNabb handled everything with amazing grace and class.

Your comparison of Collins and McNabb is also RIGHT ON! Collins is just good enough to get you beat. McNabb is a winner and is VERY soon to be a champion. Also look at Steve McNair, an absolute Warrior who doesn't get near the credit he deserves. Look at the Titans record over the last few years with him at the helm. On the other hand, all you ever hear about is how godlike Peyton Manning is. Of course he is a great qb, but has he accomplished even as much as McNabb or McNair teamwise?

Look at how atrocious Marino was his last couple years...not a dsparaging word was heard from media or fans. Same for Aikman who just stank it up. Many will bash me for my opinions here but I think an objective look at the evidence shows the following:

A white QB can have a couple horrible seasons before his ability is questioned but let the QB be black and fans are ready to bench or run him after 2 games. Hopefully someday the double standards will change.

pure passer?

pure passer?

o.k.......there`s better pure passers....but,the guy is a big time play maker......

also,i wonder if he`d be considered a little better pure passer if he had better targets than thrash and the so. miss. stringbean(whose name escapes me)....i think chad lewis being healthy and the rookie tight end from rutgers have added to mnabb`s effectivness...(even though the rookie tight end has "tiki barber/daunte culpepper syndrome")....

can`t lose sight of ole` andy reid,though....those back-ups came in last year and fit right into the system and were very effective....

i think that when "best coaches" are mentioned, reid`s name should be right near the top....

gardenweasel, totally agree about Reid...outstanding coach! Doesn't listen to media spew either.

"You think you know but you don't know. You don't know...and you'll never know" - Jim Mora

Brett Favre and John Elway -- examples of 2 other QBs who will lose quite a few games with bad decisions. Both will (would)throw up garbage, throw into triple coverage but never had their abilties or smarts questioned. Both were finally able to overcome and get their Ring but could they have more if they had played smarter? Probably.

A prime example from years past. Doug Williams when he played with the expansion Tampa Bay. Took major abuse but the guy was in the Steve McNair mold. Finally got his Ring with Redskins but really never gets the credit due him. Many would probably say Bledsoe has proven himself a better QB -- despite the fact he has consistently been below average for years.

Look at how Quincy Carter is being piled on even though the Cowboys have had incredible success and he's barely gotten his feet wet.

It seems to me things are exactly OPPOSITE of what druggie Limbaugh claimed.

Sorry to soapbox here everyone. Just that I appreciate the game no matter what color the players are.

Good points about the coach and the TE's.

Agreed, Reid is a great coach, who is underrated. Wish he'd get a personality....
