At the bar
Steve McNair got another DUI last night but he wasn't driving. It was his truck and his cousin that was driving. Both were charged because Tennessee law states that if its your vehicle and someone else is driving and gets a DUI, then the owner gets one as well.

All over the news here today and I think this law sucks, the guy tries to protect himself from kind of trouble and bad publicity. And before someone starts bashing me from giving his keys to someone that had been drinking, the guy was still taking precautions and gets arrested for RIDING. Actually, our law is that whomever owns the car and wherever you are is responsible, he could have been home asleep and still got arrested. Ronnie may have a different opinion of Steve since he has probably had some direct relations with him, but I have always thought he was a class act around here and think this a bad action for him.

First of all, the driver is accused of DUI. It's pretty irresponsible of the news to make a big deal out of it just because it's McNair. I hope Steve takes it to a jury. I don't think a jury would enforce this kind of stupidity but people will be told that he broke the law and they don't realize that we are the enforcers of the laws no matter how stupid or unconstitutional they are. We also have the right to not enforce stupidity.

That is a really bad law, but honestly, I take taxis all the time when I am rip roaring drunk, and well, I make less than this:

2000 Titans ............... $ 4,135,200
2001 Titans .............. $ 5,862,084
2002 Titans ............... $ 2,001,530
2003 Titans ............... $ 5,252,200
2004 Titans ............... $ 6,750,910
2005 Titans ............... $ 7,501,770
2006 Ravens .............. $ 9,000,000

Hire a limo. Take a helicoptor. Buy the bar and sleep there.

I just don't get it.

I have nothing bad to say about Steve. He is a helluva guy. I've waited on him on several occasions at the bar. Very nice to talk to and a great tipper. Can't say the same for Eddie "Gay" George. Cheap MF!:mj07:

Dunclock,

What does this mean? What precautions?

I dont know all the facts since I havent read many of the articles, just bits and pieces. I dont know if Steve was Under the Influence or not. If not, then I dont understand why he wasnt driving himself. If he was UI and he knew his brother-in-law was, then to me it just seems very irresponsible.

I'd like to see more of the facts so my opinion might be based on bad info, but in general I think I have to side in favor of the law on this one. If I knowingly give my keys to a guy who's drunk or anything but sober for that matter, and that guy happens to get into an accident that is alcohol related, then I should be held just as responsible as the driver. I might be in the minority on this, but someone would have a hard time convincing me to side with McNair.

Thats a pretty tough law, which begs the question:

If you can get a DUI as a passenger in some states then why in others are people getting thier 5th, 6th, 7th, etc... DUI and still driving?

Hell I don't know
people can get multiple DUI 's because all the state can do is take away someone's license. However that doesn't stop the unlicensed driver from driving while intoxicated. That is why more states should have more severe penalties for driving while suspended also!
