A game I've been waiting for years.Leaving at 8.00 am to see the game.Big time mixed emotions in this game.Been an Army fan for the past 35 years living in its backyard.Worked for 6 years at Army's baseball and basketball camp living on campus.Won 3 basketball sectional finals here.Love the Point.Have many friends that work at the Point. But.....I'm a North Texas alum.My heart is for the Mean Green.Met a girl from Paris,Texas my jr year as I was dribbling a basketball a la Pearl Monroe in front of the dorm.Three years later married her.It's now 35 years later with 4 kids and one grandchild.It all started at North Texas. Therefore....I'll take North Texas +5.5
North Texas +5.5 over Army ***
Not a big play.To many problems for both teams.Anything can happen.Both teams kicking,punting,coverage,etc are terrible.Injuries problems on both teams.NT is missing 5 starters including starting QB Tune.NT starting soph Qb Thompson who has a rifle of an arm and is mobile. Dodge has come in to play wildcat but last yr he threw 3 or 4 ints but 225 yds vs Army.Army Qb Steelman hurt his shoulder but will start.NT is 0-2 losing to Clemson and to Rice by a point.Army is 1-1 beating EMU and then losing to Hawaii with a few seconds left.
Last yr Army went down to Denton and won 17-13 but NT out gained them 447 yds to 287.It was another 4 qrt loss after leading.NT has lost 4th qrt leads in 6 of their last 13 games including Rice last week.The problem is NT out gains everyone but still loses.
NT has Dunbar who is a stud at RB.Army will have to concentrate on him.NT's WR have improved and had Clemson on the ropes trying to contain them.NT OL is solid even though they have given up 6 sacks already.Clemson was held in check the entire game.Think Army DL will have trouble putting pressure on Thompson.Army gave up 21 pts to Hawaii last week and then stopped them in the 2nd half.
Army's option attack with Hassan at FB is getting better and better.Mealy at the slots is tough.Army OL has improved big time opening up huge holes.NT defense last yr stopped Army for 3 quarters and then fell apart.NT defense will have problems stopping Army esp. because they are not the best tackling team.Army will pound it all day since they are 8th in the nation in rushing.NT is missing 2 db's due to injury also.
Army could win this game by 2 or 3 td's.NT starting QB,center,2 Db's are out tomorrow.But I think NT can keep it close and cover the +5.5.I see Army winning this by a few.NT played Clemson tough and lost a heartbreaker to Rice.Think Dunbar breaks a few for some Td's and keeps it close.Whose special teams screws up the most could determine who wins.
NT is quicker and more athletic and I think that keeps this game close.Army doesn't win very many home games esp by over 5 pts....
The over is 51.Going to pass on that.It's going to be a beautiful day in the low 70's.Weather won't be a factor.One of my students who graduated last yr is a plebe.I'm his guest with his parents.He is one of the top wrestlers in the country and a NY state champion.Recruited by over 50 D-1 schools.But he loved the Point and Army's wrestling coach got a bluer chipper. I get to see him at the parade,eat lunch with him but can't sit with him at the game. Can't wait for tomr. Go mean green.

Think this line is way off.KSU with Thomas wins this by 2 or 3 TD's.would have a big write up on this game but said to much already.

East Carolina +20.5 over Vir Tech **
I know their upset.Think the Pirates with their speed can keep this under the 20 pts.
