La-Laf -3.5 over North Texas ****
Think NT is in trouble tonite vs the Cajuns....Last yr they beat NT 30-10 and have the same Rb's and Wr's that hurt NT.Lafs Qb is out but Broadway has played well in his place..he is a Houston transfer an had a good game last week vs Tulane...he can also run w/the ball...laf has solid rbs with Harris who is a power back and Ephren who slashes...Ol is decent and they have dangerous wr's in Lawson...Surgent lyr beat NT db's...laf plays 3 wr's and spreads it out...NT offense is all about the power running game...they have 3 backs that interchange..but they are so inconsistent...Nt has no passing game.. OL is pretty solid esp in pass protection.Everyone will play 7-8 guys in the box and force Thompson to throw..FAU who is not a power house put 9 guys in the box and stopped the NT run..NT rushed 30 times for 56 yds..they forced Thompson to throw but NT did win by 6 pts...
Laf's strength is their DL...they are big and much quicker then NT....they have solid Lb's and have done a great job against every body but Ok St...Laf also has some big Db's....NT wr's do not need double coverage.. Chancillor is the only real threat..On 3rd down Lafs blitzes all the time...puts big time pressure on Nt qb....
NT played LSU and Kansas St tough and did some good things....so everyone likes to base their next games on those 2 games...they lose to Troy at home 14-7 where Laf beat Troy 37-24.Laf scored 48,and 41 the past few weeks over Tulane and FIU...NT had trouble with FAU and even Texas Southern...
The key of this game is Laf stopping NT run game and making NT pass....if they can't stop the run then NT is in good shape....but don't think that will happen..the over-under...its a tough call.. NT has the worst special team unit in the country. they can't punt or kick off return. They can't hit FG's either...for that matter either can Laf. Think I'll take the under for a small play... **
On another note that means nothing esp if its on national TV...the calls will go against North Texas because they are leaving the Sun conf for Conf USA...the league is upset about NT bolting....just my theory alone..GL
NT is in its new stadium....not sure of the crowd tonite...it holds 30,000...if you see many empty seats that's because every one is at the library studying....education is important at NorthTexas:mj07:
