OK.. So my doctor ordered some blood work to be done for me. No problem. Went in on Wednesday and it was a piece of cake. Didn't even feel a thing. The few times I've done this, I get someone who can't seem to find a vain and pokes the shit out of me. Anyway....I now have a good size bruise (4 days later) in that same general area with swelling. No pain unless I touch that area, then hurts like a son of a bitch. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance....

Not unless the bruising doesn't go away for a couple of weeks or it hurts without having to touch it.

there is a solution to this needled stabbing.

Just as the nurse preps your arm and comes forward with the needle you say this

if you have to stick me more than once , I am going to rip your tongue out of your head.

works for me anyways

You are fine Mully. Just a bruising thing, nothing else. Maybe a palpitation issue/find the vein but otherwise you are good.

should be fine, and this was most likely caused because not enough pressure was held on the site after the blood draw. You probably bled a little into the subcutaneous tissue which now shows as a big bruise. In the future, hold your arm up and hold direct pressure to the site for one minute. Some people (even if they aren't on a blood thinner) just seem to freely bleed after having blood drawn.

I found it weird when they took it out of the top of my hand.

then it probably hurt more that way. i always drink loads of water before lab work. helps them find the vein more easily.
