It was Great of Keeko to Start a Thread for our Fallen Heroes, unfortunately it went sideways. :nono:

I am asking this, if you have a loved one you are honoring and you would like to mention them here, please do so.

If you have served, and would like to mention your branch, MOS, and Dates served.

How do you post videos ?

MODS, if this thread goes sideways and outside the parameters of what I have asked, could you please whack the post?

This is about honoring the Troops who gave the ultimate sacrifice, not about KBR, Bush, Cheney or Obama.

Thank you

I served 15 years US ARMY/ CA Army National Guard. Rank E6/SSG MOS 31C30A 36G 11B/M/C
12/B/C/F 12A

I had 3 uncles that served in the US Army, 2 in Vietnam, 1 in the Korean War. All 3 Survived the conflicts although 1 uncle in Nam came back with iilnesses due to Agent Orange.

1 grandfather served in WWII in the Pacific Theater.

I lost 4 buddies in Desert Storm

In this current conflict I have lost 7, to my knowledge, it is hard to keep up with all the people I have met and known being in for 15 years.

AGAIN I ASK FOR PERSONAL STORIES ONLY AND NO MUD SLINGING !

BE, GOOD, AND BE WELL

I elected to go to college and didn't experience the privilege of serving, but I have the utmost respect for those who did. Both of my grandfathers served in WWI and I have several uncles that served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

I'll share one quick story...

One of my uncles served on the USS Franklin (below) in WWII. Like many WWII vets, he didn't like to talk about his experiences in battle because they were just too painful to dredge up. But my mom (who spent many of her high school days writing letters to servicemen, which young women were encouraged to do during WWII) once told me how when my uncle returned from the war, for a long time his hands shook so bad he couldn't even hold a cup of coffee.

For those unfamiliar with the Franklin, it was the most heavily damaged aircraft carrier of WWII. When it was hit by Japanese dive bombers in March of 1945, many of the crew were blown overboard, driven overboard by fire, killed or injured. Casualties totaled 724 killed with 265 of the remaining 604 members of the crew injured (of which my uncle was one).

I drank a lot TF, too much :nono:
That cost me my first marriage, and the long deployments.

I had a difficult time making it thru "Taps" today before both races.

Generation Kill is on HBO tonight, don't know if I can watch that again?
