Almost every year I paste the American Cemetery in Florence.
...living on a US army base about an hour from Florence my elementary school would go put flags and red poppies on all the graves...the place was unreal to us...the crosses were lined up so straight...I can remember the kool aid was warm and never enough sugar...when lunch came....we spent a few hours there every memorial day...it's a nice place to visit yet no tour buses every stop on the way to Florence...some tour buses will mention " if you look on the right or left their is an American cemetery"....and the irony is those 4,500 US soldiers gave up their lives for the right of people to tour....anyway if my paste doesn't work can someone be kind enough to fix it....thank you and have a safe memorial day

I wish the businesses of the US would shut down on Memorial Day.

I never do enough to honor those who have fallen.

If anyone served in the US Military, I am grateful for you and your family.

Thanks Box for this...I hope everyone realizes Memorial Day is for "fallen soldiers" who gave the ultimate sacrifice. While I and many others have served, we were the fortunate ones...here's to those that ultimately gave ALL....:toast:

Not sure if this bumps this up from the archives from last year....I always think of the American Cemetery in Florence on Memorial day..take a 2 minutes trip back in time thinking about these 4,000 US soldiers who died in WW2....always remember the warm cool aid and P& J sandwiches with no jelly...

It worked....hope everyone has a nice and safe Memorial Day....

Ps...my wife saw Paul McCartney at the Erwin Center in Austin the other nite...said he was great..played from 8.45 to 11.30 pm with no breaks...one of the encore songs was ' Yesterday".....my wife was one of those Beatlemania fans back in the day...she comes home from Texas in 2 weeks....after 9 months down there...
Pss...going out tonite with some teachers from my HS...they said they have a 3-day weekend.. I laughed at them...since I'm retired I have a 3 day weekend every weekend..:mj07:
