Duke +250
UCONN +300

Just laid a rather large wager on Memphis to win it all. I can't believe the value here! The Tigers are every bit as good as Duke and UCONN. They are long, they are athletic, they play tenacious full court defense, they are well coached, and they possess the inside/outside game a team needs to win it all in March. My only concern is their youth, but the diaper dandies have been playing at an extremely high level all season long, albeit against lesser competition in Conference USA.

I think that might be what hurts them come tourny time...I could see any early exit by this team when they have to play some tougher competition than what they have gotten accustomed to.

I do agree there is value there and its probably worth a few bucks, but Vegas doesn't give gifts.

True, but I saw Memphis go toe to toe with Duke at the beginning of the season. The freshman Williams did a great job containing Redick. Totally frustrated him at times during the game. The Memphis players are cocky. It's going to take an athletic team that isn't intimidated in the least bit to knock off favorites Duke and UCONN. Memphis is the team to do it!

I dont think Memphis has any value at all. Sure the played Duke close long ago, and they beat tennessee at home and beat an overrated Gonzaga team.

There is the resume. They got drilled at home by Texas. The conference is cupcake city. They have a bad game strategy coach. And generally in the tourney youth equals death.

I cant see any team winning it but UConn or Duke. Maybe Texas if Aldridge starts dominating like he should or Nova if they shoot unconscious and play teams with little front court. But to me there is a Big 2, then Texas/Nova, then a big dropoff.

Gonzaga overrated? I disagree with that statement. The Zags' current RPI is 12. And don't underestimate the Tigers' win at home against Tennessee. The Vols' current RPI is 3.

Youth equals death? Maybe so, but don't forget Syracuse in 2003. The Orange were led by two freshmen. McNamara won the game for SU with 6 three-pointers in the first half.

Memphis doesn't have any value at all? What do you consider value? +1300 on a top 3 team is nothing but value!

Gonzaga is overrated

RPI is overrated

RPI doesnt measure the talent, only the schedule and opponents

.... imo Memphis could win it all, they might put it together late and ride that through much like 'Cuse did on '03, only this team has no Melo

i personally hate Duke but they should be the favorites at this point with the way Reddick plays, as long as he doenst disappear they are a lock for the final 4

RPI doesn't measure talent. This is true to a certain extent, but I'm sure we would all agree that UCONN might be the most talented team in the country right? Well, Gonzaga lost by 2 points to UCONN. Morrison and Batista will both be first round picks in the NBA draft.

Spartans are loaded with talent, but they never seem to put it all together... looks like MSU plays the toughest schedule possible, coasts through that, then flips on the switch at tourney time, but Gonzaga's win their was impressive, I just dont like what I see from them when they play in conference... and how about their performance against Stanford at home, they were in a dogfight when that should have been cake

UConn is far and away the most talented team, I know if I had the first pick in June's draft, it'd be Rudy Gay... They have a great frontline, but can their guards be reliable? Thats what wins it in the end... Anderson is streaky and Williams might have the urge to cop some more laptops before the season is over

The same thing can be said about the Zags. They coast through their conference schedule. They know they can't be beat by a conference opponent. Don't underestimate Stanford! The Cardinal have been playing good ball lately. That was a huge game for Stanford, and a quality win for Gonzaga. No, UCONN's guards can't be trusted in the tournament. Did you see them the other night against Nova, especially Williams. He was totally outplayed by Lowry. UCONN won't win it all.

Sun Tzu, you're right, I stand corrected. What's your point about playing 3 or 4 days in a row? Both teams had the same disadvantage right?

They dont scheudle that way in March.

No, but they do play on Thursday and Saturday or Friday and Sunday. Not a lot of time to prepare and relax. I will make sure I bump this thread next month when Duke and UCONN are eliminated, and Memphis is still alive!

for the record i already have memphis at 30-1, 25-1, and 18-1 all placed back in nov/dec

do they have the talent....yes

they ARE the deepest team in the country...without a doubt...

BUT, coach cal isnt a good BENCH coach. he is an excellent recruiter. Memphis doesnt run offense plays...they play street ball...they struggle hard against the zone and rely WAY too much on the 3 point shot. they have no inside game and that is why they wont win the NC. i see memphis struggling big time in the tourney if they have to play Oklahoma/West vA/ohio st ect....IMO they will get KOed in the sweet 16/elite 8. Their conference sucks and they wont have played a ranked team from jan-march which will show.
