It appeared that Wise was talking about value on a championship bet, which Memphis would fit that bill based on ranking and probability of #1 seed. A few others I thought were not a bad value play for you money.
Gonzaga 15-1
Michigan State 15-1
Ohio state 18-1
Tennessee 20-1
and Texas 7-1

I agree that Ucon has the most talent, but there is reason that all the #1 seeds rarely make it the final four.

i just checked my source that had them going top 15 and now they arent so i am wrong....

rodney carney---top 5
shawne williams---they had him going top 12---IMO he is at least 2 years away from doing anything...his game needs serious polishing before he can do anything at the next level
darius washington jr---will be a solid NBA point guard...had him top 15...nowhere to be seen

you're right....i am wrong...sorry

IMO, Futures plays in general do not have that much value PERIOD! Sure, you might get lucky here or there as I did with the lone NFL futures play I had with the Steelers from last March, but its truly a lot of luck. There is still a lot of time for key injuries and with the one and done scenario the tourny presents, I just see there being more value in betting invidual games as they come rather than the risk involved with futures bets. I don't mean to knock on the discussion, but just wanted to mention that its not worth a lot of personal time on figuring who has value and who doesn't.

There is the resume. They got drilled at home by Texas. The conference is cupcake city. They have a bad game strategy coach. And generally in the tourney youth equals death.

.

Got drilled at home by Texas!!!!!!.......sure they lost by 11 BUT..........Memphis took a 48-47 lead with 7 minutes to go and went on a scoring drought from then on.........they also kicked Texas's ass on the boards by the tune of 44 rebounds to 34 rebounds.(and in my opinion Texas is if nothing else a pretty physical team)........they only shot 16 ft's to 25 for Texas.....not to often the home team shoots such a disparity............the only reason they lost this game is they shot a horrendous 28% (20-70)from the field by far their worst showing of the season.......I figure if they even have an average game (say 35%...) they beat Texas handily..........

Not making any excuses but this was a pretty close game that could have went either way the last 7 minutes......

also noticed in the Duke 3 point loss......the Tigers outrebounded the Dukies by 6 (35-29)......while Duke had 15 fouls called compared to Memphis having 25 fouls called on them.......and Duke shooting 25 ft's compaired to the Tigers 13 ft's.........in the tourney if the fouls and free throws even out somewhat then I dont see why Memphis cant play with anybody.......

they have no inside game and that is why they wont win the NC.

No inside game huh.........they outrebounded both Duke and Texas as well as almost everyone else on their schedule and they have no inside game??

Only my opinion but I think there inside game is as good as anyone else's......

Whos is better???

Duke......1 player.....sheldon williams.....thats it inside.....

UCONN....Armstrong is a shot blocker but cant shoot and Rudy seems to play more outside......

actually this is a year where there doesnt seem to be that really tough physical team that will beat you up......if there is one let me know who it is???

gonzaga will not win 6 games in a row in march, thus they have no value at all

uconn
duke
texas
nova
tenn
mich state
memphis (maybe)

one of those 7 will win it all

I got ucon at +800 beginning of the season, and im happy with it. BUT I think there is tremendous value with Memphis +1300. Yeah they have played cupcakes but tell me ACC isnt less than average this year?

Mich st brings it but they only have so much to bring and if you wanna talk about go to guys, AGER will have to have 6 amazing games in a row.
Nove is solid and have a good chance. Texas is tough too, just dont see them winning it.
Zaga will probably get knocked out 2nd round.
Tenn who? lol yeah they are having a cinderalla season but all stories come to an end.
Duke has all the peices to win it, so does Uconn, Texas, Nova and Memphis. I think Gwashington is a very good team too. Another team that you arent mentioning is Arizona, who ALWAYS brings their A game, and are plenty explosive to make a run.
KU sleeper pick could get hot and go on a run with anybody to.

Pretty much i think brackets should have 1.Duke 1. Uconn 1. Nova 1Texas

2. Zags 2. Memphis 2. West Virginia 2. Florida
3. Pitt 3. Illini 3.Geo Washington 3. Ucla

blgstocks-

i agree on memphis. and theres an outside chance that you could be correct in your 'seedings', but memphis is so far ahead of west virginia and gonzaga (assuming theyre all 2 seeds), its not funny. the tigers have a legit shot to win it all, whereas west virginia and gonzaga have no shot to win 6 straight in this years tourney. i think theres definite value with memphis.

Defiitely agree with Memphis > Zaga but You hate on WV every chance you get, I dont wanna turn this into another WV thread but they have a very real shot of heating up and if they are hitting threes the way they did last tourney and the way they have done this year NOT a team will beat them.
But we will see, I just dont think Memphis gets to be seeded abover Nova or Texas you kow?

lol. "if wvu is hitting 3s .... not a team can beat them".
thats a pretty big "if".
and if they're NOT hitting 3s for six straight games, well, then ...
maybe they could lose to a team like marshall or seton hall.
there are 64 teams in the tournament who can make a deep run "if they're hitting 3s". thats the beauty of the tournament. its about being hot at the right time. if you're a legit #2 seed in the tournament, should your tourney life depend on your ability to hit 3s consistently? im not turning this into a wvu thread. because that other thread turned bizarre especially when people think i have something out for wvu and dont respect them - which couldnt be further from the truth. i respect them quite a bit. but they stand zero chance of winning the tournament. i really like memphis. i dont know if the fact that theyve been on cruise control since december is a good thing or a bad thing. but i do know they have talent, can play defense, and can beat you a lot of different ways.

imo this is a year where a sleeper could put on that slipper.dont no if you could even call them a sleeper but with there style think wvu has a hell of a chance to win 6 in a row.teams unfamiliar with there game seem to have a real hard time figureing them out.tennesee can ball as well.before the season memphis was my sleeper pick, but that title no longer fits them.think we ll have some low seeds in the sweet 16.someone from mac, miss valleyetc. im thinking akron or kent.maybe penn.think it will be a real fun tourny.

Memphis............10-15 tonight from 3 point range......66%.......and 42-73 ...57% from the field

Although beating Tulane doesnt mean much........Calipari has to be happy hitting 66% from 3 pt range.......he would take that every game since the book on Memphis says give them the outside shot............

Anyone who says, "Memphis can't win it all," or "Memphis doesn't have any value," obviously hasn't seen Memphis play.

They sure go 9-11 deep off the bench...........

I will tell you one thing who ever they play in the tourney better have some decent ball handlers because these guys will press right from the get go.......

all that without their 2nd best player. s. williams didnt even play

biggest problem, like i said earlier is they havent played a ranked team since TN(jan 18th) and wont play one till at least the sweet 16...that's 4 freakin months playing sub-par teams :com:
