.....I would have to disagree with the Tigers letting down this week. The U of M football team has not received this much attention in years! The whole city is buzzing with "visions of bowl games dancing in their heads." I don't think that West will let this team "cruise" into the post season. From what I understand, all of his speeches to the team have been about remaining focused until the end.

...As an example, Memphis had a bit over 40,000 show up for the ECU game a few weeks ago. In years past this number would have easily been in the 20,000 range. I expect to see close to 50,000 at the Cincy game this week. I think that the team knows this will happen, and they do not want to upset the tremendous support that it is getting right now. This football team is not only excited about it winning season or a bowl game, but the actual support that it is seeing for the first time in many many years.

....I think that this has as much to do with the outcome of this game as the ensuing bowl bid to come....

...The fans will make the difference in this game....;)

The best part about this is the Tigers are 1-0 against the Big East and have a good chance to go 3-0. The Tigers gave the Cardinals a nice parting gift to the Big East, now it's Cincy and South Florida's turn. Go Tigers!

Memphis has definate South Carolina (the state) connections. Tommy West coached with Danny Ford at Clemson in the early 80's then at South Carolina before becoming head coach at Clemson. Joe Lee Dunn (defensive coordinator) was the DC at SC under Joe Morrison before arriving at Mississippi State with Sherrill. Both are great guys and would go have a beer with you at any time. I would agree, Joe Lee is not head coaching material but is an agressive, daring defensive coach. As a Clemson alum, I'm glad Tommy has landed on his feet. The UAB game lost me some money this year, but he has had a great run the last month (4-0). Good luck with the bowls Tiger fans...............

FWIW I just learned Memphis -11 is Northcoast's Power Sweeps 4* play this week.

Don't know if that is bad or good.

Steele's College 4* plays in Pow sweep are 5-6-1 this year.

GL to all Memphis fans
