Nova -4 vs Memphis

The Tigers are banged up pretty bad already. They will only dress 8 or 9 players with one of those being Maurice Avery who came over after football ended. Leading scorer Carney is out and one of the best PGs in america has a hurt foot but is expected to play. If memphis has any chance to pull this off burks must play well. This is also a must win for the tigers when it comes time for the ncaas tourney. Without a win over a RPI top 50 memphis needs this one bad. Memphis two losses against wake and ILL, but a few squeekers over powerhouses Belmont, Samford, and Oakland. I am leaning towards Nova early, but i will post pik later.

Thoughts about Nova would be appreciated...

Just FYI, in case you didn't know (I just found out) this game is not a home game for Villanova. It is at the Wachovia Center in Philly. Obviously it will still be a very pro-Nova crowd but it's not as much of an advantage as if it were at home.

wareagle,

WHAT?! you like Nova at -4, so in order to win that bet they would have to win by atleast 5 points but you like Memphis if it were to go to 5' or 6?? Do you expect them to win by only 1 point here? I just don't see how a 1 point climb can justify taking the other side. You're going to have to post some serious MOJO pics to make up for that statement my friend! dance1

Trav, first there is no action as of yet on this game. My last sentence i am leaning towards Nova early... Well it is now getting late and i am starting to lean with memphis as the line rises in their favor. With all the negatives out there about memphis close calls, their injuries, and nova's close game with Kansas last weekend. I see the public pounding Nova early. Fouls will play a huge role for memphis, if Sean Banks, Jeremy Hunt, and Burks can stay out of early trouble they will have a good shot S/U. When they are on they can shoot with anyone in the country. They rank 26th in the country with 8.3 3s a game. My main concern now as it is with every Memphis basketball team pro or college is free throws, none of them can make these damn things. Be back shortly with a pick

as i stated earlier, i know it is early, but this is a must win for the tigers to make it to the ncaas unless they beat Louville, cincy, and marquette which i don't see.

with all due respect wareagle--it seems like you are trying to hard to wager on this game. U first state that memphis is banged up and will only dress 8 or 9 players, 1 player being a football player, in which he will be rusty. But than go on to say that they need this game; Villanova needs this game too, they want to get into the tournament. Memphis is althletic but do not do the little things that it takes to win on the road. Which is take care of the ball, hit free-throws, and rebound(they do rebound)-but against Nova, don't see a big edge in that department. The line is up a pt from the 4 now being 5. Can't see 1 pt giving memphis big value. Although the lined opened at 1.5 and went to 4---Villanova, not a normal home game, but will have the support of the majority of the crowd. I personally went with Nova at 4---and not saying it is the right side, but simply pointing out that it seems like your forcing a play on this game. Good luck.

its early wareagle but memphis looks good--they are taking care of the ball and appear to be a little quicker on offense--Villanova committing lots of turnovers in the first-half--if they can take care of it they may pull it out--and with foul shots may cover--but chances are memphis covers----this game is going to be tight throughout.

Memphis covers EASY!! [reverse MOJO] :)

Actually they look pretty dang good without their top player. Nova looked real hesistant to take shots early on in the post. Bad FT shooting by Memphis may be the key in this game down the stretch. Should be a nail biter.

yeah reverse mojo---it does seem like Villanova gets the close calls--villanova does look good down low--they are getting good looks--the foul line may be the difference Monk.

Nova can't make a shot. Let alone a FT.

They keep turing the ball over every other possestion and on the other one they shots are going in and out. Need to get memphis in foul trouble.
