Wofford -2-: posted a mercer/mercer under parlay on Monday that would have hit had the game ended in regulation; unfortunately the game went to overtime and I screwed the pooch. i'm going to try to capitalize on that loss and play the terriers tonight. as previously posted, the bears lost a teammate to what looks like a drug-related shooting last week. afterwards, they played emotional games Saturday and Monday to overflow home crowds, culminating to the abovementioned overtime loss to league power mercer. now reality sets in with this weekend bus trip to Wofford and furman, two teams locked up with mercer for second place in the socon behind utc. now no more raucous home crowds to feed the emotions that follow the loss of a teammate. instead, mercer is a shorthanded team playing their third game in 6 days, against a motivated conference opponent who lost at mercer by 1 point 3 weeks ago. by shorthanded, I mean, besides the slain teammate, two key players, jestin lewis and desmond ringer who remain suspended and are confirmed to have not been on the bus when it left macon. btw, it was ringer who hit both the game tying bucket in regulation and the game winner in ot against Wofford on 1/16.. mercer was also shorthanded against utc; here's the starters' minutes played - 37, 40, 42, 32, 38. mercer got 4 points from its' bench in that game. terriers get their revenge tonight.
