Houston, Texas
FLorida State is loaded with QB prospects. No offense but do you know what goes on at places other than USC - this stuff isnt that hard to find. What I hear is that Booty is unahppy that Sanchez has essentially been made some promises. So after sitting another year behind Leinert he isnt even guaranteed a job. Plus the inevitable departure of Chow if not Carroll. (Insert: please just presume I read your 8 paragraphs of how they will never leave USC and spare us from writing it.)

Unfortunately as texas fan I think AM is his most logivcal destination (he has apparently said he wants to play "in Texas." McNeal has one year left which would be Booty's sit out year, then start for 2 years with no real worries for a potentially up and coming program.

Where the hell are you getting this info? Where are you getting these quotes?

ABSOLUTE NO MENTION of this from USC insiders. I am very suprised. Not suprised Booty might be thinking of transfering, but suprised NO WORD of this has been mentioned.

Booty is the likely #2 QB next year and will get playing time. I am 95% confident he does not transfer. Maybe transfers if Sanchez beats him out but Sanchez is redshirting.

Chow may leave but not Carroll. (1 line)

BTW, Booty would beat out any QB FSU has. Booty was the #1 QB prospect out of high school and he left out early. He was rated higher than LEAK and WRIGHT that year and he was year younger than both! He is awesome.

sounds like someone in columbus.

justin zwick ring a bell? all kinds of accolades, very decorated high school player. supposed to be the best high school qb ever in ohio (and there have been some good ones)

but that doesnt guarantee anything. he hasnt done a whole helluva lot and he got beat out by smith.

Other #1 ranked HS QB's:

C.J. Leak
Ron Powlus
Dan Kendra
Brock Berlin

Not saying Booty won't be good (chances are he will under Chow) but HS rankings aren't any kind of guarantee.

No real reason to believe that SC won't at least make the title game with that schedule. However, I think they might have a tougher time that some may think w/o Cody and Totupu. Defense wins championships and it all starts up front.

I know one thing, I won't be betting against SC in a bowl game until Chow leaves. That guy is sick.

As a junior in High School Booty was rated higher than LEAK a senior in high school. Booty left high school his junior year. I have seen Booty in practices and he completes over 70% of his passes. He is the real deal IMO but I am no coach. Booty is just as smart as Leinart (Leinarts greatest asset) but Booty has more physical talent. Thats why I think some USC fans were not going to be too disapointed if Leinart left because EVERYONE is curious to hell to see Booty play. He smartly redshirted this last year.

But I agree, he could be a bust or just turn out to be average. Nobody knows for sure. That is why you recruit as many top notch QB's as possible.

I know one thing, I won't be betting against SC in a bowl game until Chow leaves. That guy is sick.

I don't get this. Why no props for Pete Carroll and his defense? That was MUCH more impressive. Everyone was in awe over LSU's defensive performance over a hurt White and one dimensional OU offense (and team who was shut down by KSU the game prior), but USC dominated a healthy and more experienced White AND a very balanced offense with Peterson. Quite funny. Not singling you out, but last year everyone was praising LSU's defense when USC's defensive performance was MUCH more dominant than LSU's last year. Yet USC does not get the same respect on that side of the ball. Only the offense.

Looking at that schedule, I don't see it as a cakewalk. Hawaii is a very sketchy game as funny things happen when teams travel there. If that game was in the midseason or towards the end, I'd be concerned. It might be a benefit that it is the first game for them.

The B2B with Arizona & Notre Dame looks like a tough spot. Stoops will have an improved bunch on his hand & Weis I think will make an immediate impact at Notre Dame. I think he will make an excellent coach.

The Trojans on paper are better then the Ducks but how many teams have been in that position travelling to Oregon & flat out lose a close game or get their ass handed to them in that stadium. They have a physical Arkansas team the week prior & that team could do some things.

If Fresno State gets the TBA slot, I'd really watch out for them. I know Pat Hill would take the game in a second as I'd think he play a game on glass if he had too. They would be a dangerous foe for USC imo.

Quickly glancing at that schedule, I'd want more then +250 to win it all. The value isn't there.

Lets not make this a debate about LSU's defense vs USC's.

Just proves the bias against the Pac 10/USC/West Coast. After LSU defense played great against OU, they were praised to no end. USC defense dominated a MUCH more potent OU offense, they don't get half the love. Last year people on here said LSU would beat USC because of their GREAT DEFENSE. Well USC's win over OB sorta shows how lucky LSU was not to play USC and get the split NC. USC defense last year was as good or better than this years defense that was far more impressive against OU than the LSU defense that faced OU. Last years USC team was better than this years USC team. Hate it when I am right! j/k

I agree with you that USC schedule is no cake walk. It might be relatively easy or relatively hard. Lotta question marks for many of the teams. USC def. will be favored by min. double digits in every game so +250 for USC to win it all is VALUE!

5 potential upsets I see are......

Arky, good coach, everybody is back minus QB, physical team, USC plays them 2nd game of year so maybe that catch USC off guard after their trip to Hawaii.

@Oregon
TOUGH PLACE to play, and Oregon had down year last year. Look for them to rebound or Belotti might be OUT.

@ASU
ASU and Koetter keep getting better each and every year. USC throttled them this year just like they did to OU. ASU will pull out all the stops to upset USC and if their QB excels they are dangerous. ASU will be top 3 Pac 10 team next year if QB pans out.

@ND
Weis already has his school pumped for the game. He told everyone at hoop game that he hopes that team from CA comes undefeated into South Bend in Oct. I agree he is gonna be good coach for ND and weird crap happens over there at that stadium. However USC outclasses them in talent and speed.

@CAL
Cal might be somewhat down next year but USC gets CAL at the end of the year and Tedford will have a whole season to shape up the team and the QB won't be inexperienced. CAL is seems to have USC # and @CAL is tough place to play.

THE BIGGEST POTENTIAL UPSET IS UCLA. USC will have 3 weeks off prior to UCLA. That is a lot of time off and UCLA played well against USC this last season. Dorell knows if he beats USC he has job guaranteed for 3+ years. His teams slowly are improving. At end of year UCLA will have their act together and USC might be looking ahead to ROSE BOWL NC game instead of ROSE BOWL UCLA.

back to back Oregon/ASU
back to back ND/UW

Oregon, ND, and UW are very hostile environments and potential bad weather.

Like I said, nobody knows for sure how ALL of these teams will play next year. They could be good or average. Lotta question marks. As you can see, could be a tougher schedule than it looks.

I don't think any of what I wrote matters because USC will have huge talent and coaching advantage against every opponent they face during the season. @ +250 you gotta like the value!

Remember people here at madjacks said USC schedule was piss poor prior to last season and at the end of the year is was a top 10 or at worst top 20 schedule.

Only teams you can pencil in that are bad are LA MONROE, Citadel, etc. :)

is there a place where you can bet, that USC won't win the championship?? I think they will have a good season and all, but i just don't see them going 3 in a row. I could be wrong, but no team has ever done it before.

It is probably too early but look in a few months when books like Pinnacle, 5 Dimes, Olympic will have such an option.

Couldn't you bet say $100 on USC +150 Betroy, bet $10 to win $180 on Miami, bet $20 on Ohio St., maybe $10 on another contender, and 10 on another.

You have 5 teams.

Couldn't you make it work?

not a bad idea, but i would probably bet the same amount on 5 teams or actually reverse your idea and put less money on USC, Miami and Ohio St

I think if you could afford to keep $$$ in for long time it be fun to try and come up with 5 teams to win the BCS NC.

You might be able to pull it off without or very little risk of losing $$$. BUt if you don't minde losing a little, then it be fun bet and maybe profitable. Think about it, if you can pick 5 teams to win it all, there is high prob. you get the 2 teams in the game, or at the very least 1 of the 2 teams.

its a tough bet to think about it. I mean i wouldn't mind putting money on teams to win the championship in any other sport, but with college football its all determined by other people, thats the thing that sucks about it.

USC, Miami, OU, Texas, LSU, or Tenn. win the BCS NC, you win $$$$$. + there is chance of hedging to increase profit or middle in BCS NC game or on futures "during" the season. You also could increase your pontential profit if you shop around for the best futures prices. I only used 2 sportsbooks.

USC +150 (betroyal)
$120 to win $225

602 Miami +800
$40 to win $320

601 Oklahoma +1200
$40 to win $480

609 Texas +1200
$25 to win $300

611 LSU +1200
$25 to win $300

613 Tennessee +1800
$20 to win $360
