METS/MARLINS Under 8 -110 - I extended my personal winning streak here to 4 with Sunday night?s winner on Seattle. As for this game, the Mets suddenly discovered some offense on the tail end of their Interleague road trip, scoring at least 7 runs in 5 of their last 6 games. However, to put things in perspective, aside from Washburn yesterday, their other 4 outbursts came vs. 3 Texas starters and vs. Aaron Sele, none of whom would be confused with baseball?s elite! Now they get their first look at the very impressive Dontrelle Willis, who has begun his Major League career at 5-1 with a 3.16 ERA. Furthermore, he is undefeated in 3 home starts, where opposing batters are hitting .239 against him, and he is facing a Mets offense that is hitting an anemic .220 vs. southpaws on the road. I would be very surprised if the Mets score much more than 3 runs in this contest. At the same time, Tom Glavine is supposedly fully recovered from the elbow injury that most likely hindered his recent performances. He has not pitched in a game since June 5, and that outing lasted just 1 inning, but I expect the long rest to help him, especially since the pain in his elbow has now dissipated. He has pitched very well in 2 starts vs. Florida this season, allowing a total of 3 runs in 13 innings.
