Mets trade for Carlos Gomez, send Wilmer Flores and Zack Wheeler packing

Sandy Alderson continues to swing deals to support the Mets' chase for a playoff berth this season.

The Mets have agreed to acquire Milwaukee centerfielder Carlos Gomez in exchange for injured pitcher Zack Wheeler and infielder Wilmer Flores, sources told the Daily News during Wednesday's game against San Diego.

Pending physicals.

Flores still in game for mets after being notified of deal

Disservice to the player

So awkward.....mlb network discussing it all night. ..they say never have they seen a player stay in after trade.....what if he gets hurt playing for his "old team" in the mets

He has to be bummed being young kid on contender going to brewers....

Weird situation

sorta bush league huh.

Asking official involved with Gomez trade why Flores is still in game. Reply: ?No deal is done. The entire world has jumped the gun.?

Not sure how to interpret that. Club officials often say such things when deals are at the stage in which review of medicals is pending.

Around 9 p.m. ET, Mets SS Wilmer Flores and RHP Zack Wheeler were reportedly on their way to Milwaukee in exchange for OF Carlos Gomez. Around 11 p.m. ET, Mets GM Sandy Alderson said the trade "has not and will not transpire."

He gets payed enough to endure this. This is part of the game. Get over it. Now its up to him to show the Mets what they traded.
