...leaving for short vacation on Friday in between summer exams and fall classes. Anyone got some hot spots, restaurants, etc. for Miami Beach? (...other than the beach itself....)

Dr it is so funny that you mentioned that Cleavlender. I went to Miami and hit every club and hated it. To crowed and hot for my taste. So we found this little bar attached to a hotel and it WAS THE BEST TIME WE EVER HAD. I enjoyed it so much there. That is so funny. Most people never even heard of that place.

This comes from many years living in lauderdale and have been to these places can't go wrong.

first and for most south beach just head right to ocean drive will find your clubs and great eye candy. while at south beach check out Larios on the beach food is unreal.

2 must go to bars number 1 is tabacco road one of the most famious clubs in miami it is on s. miami ave donot know address just know where it is.

another great fun spot is wet willy's it is also on ocean drive big ass drinks and nice racks all around.

I was just there two weeks ago for work, and Friday night we went to Delano, which is a hotel owned by Madonna, and people go and hang out in the lobby, and in the back by the pool, there is a DJ, and great eye candy. Not a bad place to just go and hang out, but it's not cheap at $11 a drink

Frozen drinks that taste like slurpies but all made with GRAIN alcohol. (Leave the driving to someone else)

As you walk in, you see people stumbling out(no joke)

Shore Club, bar/lounge inside the hotel, pool area is nice as well. Delano, Clevelander are nice as well, China Grill, The Living Room ..

There are a whole bunch of cafes on Lincoln Road ( approximately 17th street on Miami Beach ).

Try Nexxt Cafe on Lincoln Road has decent food-- huge menu

and not overly expensive. And also take note of your dinner check..some of these places already add 15% gratuity--you can add to it if you like.

Stay away from the eateries on Washington Avenue--most of them are dumps and there is alot of local panhandlers on that avenue in South Beach. Also World Famous Jerry's Deli Sucks.

Taoist. It is HOT here, man.

Not a fan of the beach. Would check out Ocean Drive, and Delano's on Collins (I think). Also for eating Lincoln Rd. off Collins. Eye Candy and weirdos come out late at night mostly Ocean Dr. One thing, it ain't cheap.

Away from Miami Beach:

Try Tabacco Road (altough no tobacco, since July 1st began the smoking ban in public bars & workplaces) going north on Brickell take 7th street towards I-95 and make a right on S. Miami Ave.

You can also drive up to Ft. Lauderdale area to Las Olas. Similar to SOBE but a bit nicer.

Also Coconut Grove if you're kinda the young crowd, you know for those typical chain type bars (Sloppy Jopes, Senor Frogg, etc.).
