Pistons -5

Like Wise, I LOVE the pistons in this spot. I think that the series with Cleveland scared them into thinking that they can indeed be defeated if they don't bring their "A" game each night.

The Pistons proved they can still be a shut-down defensive team in Sunday's victory over the Cavs. Detroit held Cleveland to the lowest-point total in any Game 7 in NBA history; the third-lowest total in any playoff game since 1955; and 23 points in the second half, which tied the fewest scored in a postseason half since the shot clock was introduced a half-century ago.The Cavs made just 31 percent of their shots and scored fewer points than any team has this postseason.

Detroit won the season series against Miami 3-1, with all 3 victories by at least a 5-point margin. Much like last year the Heat come in with an extended rest period while Detroit has to make a quick turnaround. Last year Miami came in on eight days of rest and the rust showed in a nine-point Pistons victory.

*Pistons are 4-1-0 ATS in their last 5 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5.
*Heat are 1-4-0 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.

Pistons have been money in the opening games of series. They are 8-2 SU and ATS in Game One of a series since the start of the 2004 playoffs. They have won by an average of 18.75 points in their openers, with 6 of those 8 wins by 15 points or more. The closest winning margin has been 9 points in last year's Conf. Finals against the Heat. The Piston's two losses: San Antonio 84-69 in 2005 Finals and Pacers 78-74 in 2004 Conference Finals.
