It will make draft day that much more interesting. I don't think he'll fall THAT much as teams like New England would not be afraid to draft him if they think he can play.

I had no idea Sambo was racist, it was an attempt to be funny, guess nobody here has a sense of humor?

You should read my texts with my group of friends :mj07: you think I am bad, I am tame compared to them, I grew up in East Texas, the heart of the Bible belt. being gay is looked down on, not glamorized like in the media

Al, he cant even get out of his own way ... he even laughs about how him and his friends say much worse things in text messages

hedge, take your own earlier statement advice and leave this one alone ... all you keep doing is digging deeper

The media has made this guy out to be a hero because of his sexuality. If he is good enough he makes the team if he is not then he will not make the team, I don't give a shit either way

you all have fun in here, I am out

1. Hedgehog is awesome. I can't believe I used to actually take issue anything he posts. He is learning something new every day, thanks to the collective worldly experience of the madjacks community.:0002

2. There is is still one Sambo's restaurant yet. The original one in Santa Barbara, CA is still there. They have great breakfast and lunch deals. The name was a combination of the two founders and was ever meant to be racist, it just kind of went that way as the franchises used the theme. They, like Hedgehog, meant well but were just a tick behind the conscious of the nation.

Hedge,
Sambo is widely used as a racist term, much like calling a man Nancy when referencing his sexuality can be considered bigoted. Personally, I don't care what people say, because ultimately, they have to eat it when it goes wrong. Much like you are now. The thing is this, I don't know anyone, personally or professionally, that doesn't know Sambo has racist connotations. Literally, no one, and I know a lot of people. I am guessing that this would be the case for most everyone else here, so I don't know that a lot of people are believing that you didn't know. Again, I couldn't give a shit either way, use whatever terms you want. Just be prepared to eat when you do.

Hope this helps,
FDC

This guy is a lying sack of shit racist and the fact that ANYONE would ever come to his defense for his statements is beyond belief. Let alone anyone hang out with him. You saying your comments are even "tame" shows that you say these things to your "friends" in some form or fashion. Why would you be involved with their racist comments at all if you aren't? I call bullshit, every comment you made about my son was meant by you, and no apology could/would ever be accepted. It is a shame Jack allows this racist pig around.

I've honestly never heard the word Sambo used as a racist term. Actually outside of it being a martial art I've never heard the word at all. If nobody would have said anything about Hedge using that word I would have never known. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Is there a story behind Sambo?

I find it strange that you know a lot of people and you've talked with every single one of them about the word Sambo. Do you go down the list of every racial word with everyone you know to make sure they're aware of all of them? Maybe I could understand you talking with your friends about racial terms but how does that come up in your professional life?

I like that answer. A lot.

By the way, I'm pretty sure I have an aunt who would have no fucking idea about Sambo invoking any racial connotations.

On the other hand, hedhehog sure has a low opinion of other people if he thinks this man of obvious character and exemplary achievement is looking to set himself up as a victim to get an easy payday. Despicable.

I worked with thousands of people at American Airlines. Rule 32 of their rules and regulations covered workplace harassment. At one point the CEO Gerard Arpey put a letter out naming specific terms which were considered racist or unallowed. Now I'm not sure of all the terms listed then but being that I was the lead arbiter for the transport workers union. ... We talked about it all the time. I don't know you personally, yet we're talking about it aren't we? Things come up sometimes. As far as me going down the list with everyone i know. Didn't happen, nor does it have to. All my friends are well balanced individuals that understand the difference between right and wrong.

Hope this helps,

My only view on this is based on supply in demand. If there are more kids needing adoption than straight couples willing to adopt, then I think gay adoption is a no-brainer.
My guess is two loving parents is always better than foster care.
Beyond that I won't argue with your concern, because I just don't have enough information about how gay adoptions work out.

Interesting point. I never thought of it that way. Like Scott never had a problem or care what gay folks do but I wasn't sure how I felt about adoption for the same reasons... But I think you are right. Ill take a loving home over foster homes any day..
