He had the opportunity to "educate" even more of the masses before the election with his passionate "documentary" by letting it go to tv. He SURPRISINGLY decided not to let his "sincere" piece of work exposed to even more uneducated because he knows that by rule, it would have then not been voted on by the Acadamy (post election) for any awards. Regardless of his motives, he isn't up for any awards anyways (and Bush won the election).

I'm sure he's donated the proceeds from the movie for the many affected families that were involved in the plot (do documentaries have those, this one did).

He was stupid pushing for best movie he would never win that. As a few pros said yesterday. If he stuck with best documentary he wins easy. But he tried to go big time. Almost like the Jesus film. Just a repeat of a old story we seen in films 20 different ways. Both films make you stretch your thoughts on how true they are.

NEW YORK ? Filmmaker Michael Moore's bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York's JFK airport Wednesday night.

Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.

Moore's 2003 Oscar-winning film "Bowling for Columbine" criticizes what Moore calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.
