Not really sure how this thread got turned into a Henne vs Palko debate, but....

Henne:

(TRUE FRESHMAN PLAYING IN THE BIG TEN)

2004 Stats 2970 yards, 60% completion, 27 TD/12pks. It should be noted that Henne admitted he knew less than 25% of the playbook until the Rose Bowl when he threw for 4 TD's. I challenge you to name a true freshman QB who has ever put up these kind of numbers and won a conference championship.

Palko:

(THIRD YEAR SOPH PLAYING IN THE BIG LEAST)

2004 Stats 3067 yards, 56.2% completion, 24 TD/7pks, and 92.6 rating.

Henne isn't listed on any NFL draft sites because he's still got two years before he can leave.

You do realize Henne was the #1 or #2 (Phil Steele consensus ranking says #1) ranked recruit in the nation coming out of HS at his position?

I don't care if you believe me or not, but Palko doesn't hold a candle to Henne talent wise. By all accounts he's the most talented QB to come out of the new QB U, and he will have at least three years under Tom Brady's mentor Scott Loeffler. He will be a sure fire first rounder and IMO a top 5 pick.

BTW, I am a Mich fan but others on this site can attest that in my posted plays last year I let people know when to bet against UM (ND, SDSU, OSU). I am a fan, not a homer.

Good luck with whatever you play this weekend.

GL - CWood. We will agree to disagree concerning Palko and Henne. Michigan/ND is one of the most exciting games of college football. I can barely work this week.

UM Injuries in practice this week (will not be known to public until gametime):

Mike Hart (held out of practice yesterday, status unknown)
Mike Kolodziej (starting RT, status uncertain)
Tim Massaquoi (hand injury, probably will play, but having a tough time catching the ball)

I will try and find out Hart's status, will have a HUGE impact on this game if he is out.

Update: Mike Hart is dinged but will play. Massaquoi is out with a broken hand. Kolodziej's status is still unknown.

Kevin Grady is more than capable of handling the load, if Hart can't make the whole game. I don't think it will make a major impact.

Here is my concern for Michigan - stopping the run. Going back to LY, the trend is a little disturbing:

Mich D vs Last 5 Opponents Rush and the total points scored:

LY:
Mich St 368 yrds 6.5/carry 82 TTL Pts (3OT's)
NWestn 190 yrds 5.6/carry 62 TTL Pts
OSU 205 yrds 4.4/carry 58 TTL Pts
UT 264 yrds 5.7/carry 75 TTL Pts

This Yr:
N Ill 211 yrds 6.6/carry 50 TTL Pts

If they can't slow down the rushing game much more effectively, ND will put up a lot of points. That being said, Michigan can match them score for score.

I'm leaning towards ND + the points, but I LOVE the over 56 1/2 points as both these O's are loaded and the defenses leave alot to be desired.

That is a very disturbing trend flapjack. What makes last week most disturbing is that prior to the Northern Illinois game, everyone figured the problem was running QB's in the hybrid spread offenses. Michigan usually has not had trouble stopping the run vs conventional teams. Then last week NIU ran the ball in a conventional fashion.

One thing that should help UM is the motivation factor to beat a rival (IMO the biggest factor in stuffing the run). Another is the return of projected starter David Harris at MLB. Lastly, UM blitzed on 6 plays total last week (very vanilla scheme). That is certain to change vs ND. Will any of this matter? Jim Herrmann better hope so or the fans will be out with pitch forks Saturday night!! :scared

Its now 100% that Hart will play. I now hear he will not have a diminished role.

Kolo expected to start at RT also.

Massaquoi is done until November, maybe the bowl game.

ND has no significant injuries other than Matt Shelton who is still not 100%

chad henne is a f'n hack. he played terrible today. mich moved the ball against nd and had several missed oppurtuities - the b2b fumbles were inexcusable. however, carr is a f'n shit bag coach as well. he is far too conservative. when the pass worked it was always followed up with a run for nothing. carr is quite stubborn and will continue to lose the big game unless he has superior talent. :sadwave:

Henne a top five prospect... I think maybe you should maybe reconsider this PIPE dream. LOL.

Your ace Palko looked pretty good too.

Henne laid an egg, no doubt. But he is a true soph and will be back. I stand by my draft prediction.

Congrats to the Irish, but the injuries on offense killed Michigan. Take ND's offense, then subtract 3 starting OL (one all big ten pick, and his backup), the starting TB, the 3rd WR and the starting TE. Think they would have crossed the 50?
