Some tidbits:
"In this game, MSU was flagged 16 times for 119 yards. Hawaii had five penalties for 35 yards."
"Smith was more irate than at any point all season when MSU?s fourth-and-two pass completion for an apparent first down was overruled in the second quarter. An official overruled his crew partner who was in the area and ruled that Jerramy Scott was out of bounds when catching a 5-yard pass from Stanton on a play action waggle pass. TV replays that Scott didn?t have just one foot in bounds while making the catch - he had two feet in.If the officials had made the right call, MSU would have had the ball first-and-10 just outside of the 10-yard line with a 21-7 lead and 2:45 left in the first half."
"After Hawaii cut the lead to 28-21, the Spartans held the ball for seven plays before punting. However, on second-and-13, Cobb carried for 14 yards on a shot gun sprint draw. At the end of the run, Love was engaged with a Hawaii defensive back near the spot of the tackle, 14 yards from the line of scrimmage, at the very end of the play. An official threw a flag and called Love for holding. Then MSU threw a completion for no gain on second-and-13, and ran the same sprint draw on third-and-13 for a short gain before punting. The strange penalty call stalled the drive."
"On Hawaii?s next possession, the Rainbow offensive line moved early on second-and-10. However, MSU was penalized for a ?disconcerting signal? along the defensive line, meaning MSU was accused of mimicking Hawaii?s snap count and causing the false start."
"Hawaii threw the ball 49 times without an offensive line holding penalty."
