Kahne also running the same chassis as Indy where he was battling with Gordon for the win.
Michigan 400
Win Bets:
0.5* Dale Earnhardt Jr @ 10.5/1
0.5* Kyle Larson @ 16.5/1
0.5* Greg Biffle @ 23/1
0.5* Paul Menard @ 40/1
Dale thinks he has a good car in race trim, and I believe him. The #88 Chevrolet was 4th on the speed chart in Practice #2 on Saturday and wound up 11th-best in Happy Hour. Steve Letarte said Junior was a tenth off the best cars in that final session, and that?s something they can definitely work with. The #88 Chevrolet was 4th on the ten-lap average chart in Happy Hour. Michigan is a big, wide track, so there?s room to pass as long as you have a fast race car. If you?re really concerned about Junior?s qualifying effort this weekend, let?s look at some of the more recent races: he started 29th and finished 5th at Kentucky; he started 28th and finished 10th at Loudon; and he started 23rd and finished 9th at Indianapolis. This driver and this team are pretty much experts on making their way through the field. Since the repave here at Michigan, Earnhardt has had a great car pretty much every time, leading a series-high 175 laps over that five-race span. He finished 1st and 4th here in 2012 and wound up with a solid 7th-place run here back in June.
Larson wants to win, and he will be willing to take the necessary chances to get to victory lane on any given race weekend. He made his first Cup start here back in June and led two laps en route to an 8th-place finish after starting 12th. This weekend, Larson will roll off the grid in 13th, and looks like he might have a car that?s even better than the one he had last time. The #42 Chevrolet was 7th-fastest in the first practice session on Saturday morning and wound up 2nd-fastest to Jeff Gordon in Happy Hour. He was also 2nd to Gordon in ten-lap average during that final session. Larson had the best ten-lap average in Practice #2 and was 2nd-best on that chart in the final practice. We see last weekend at Watkins Glen that Kyle can pull out a top 5 finish even if his car is terrible all weekend, and the #42 Chevrolet hasn?t finished worse than 11th since Daytona earlier last month.
I would have never thought I would be able to put Biffle in the top 8 on my rankings, but here we are. I think (and driver seems to agree) that the #16 Ford is very good this weekend, and I actually like Greg a little more than the rest of the guys I have him ranked above heading into Sunday. In the last seven Sprint Cup events, the #16 team has just one finish outside of the top 15, and that was at Daytona. Obviously top 15s aren?t what you?re looking for when picking a driver like Biffle, but now that he?s getting some faster race cars, maybe he?ll be able to outperform once again. Greg was 10th-fastest in Practice #2 early on Saturday morning and 5th in Happy Hour. Surprisingly (very much so, actually), The Biff showed up on the ten-lap average chart and was 5th-fastest. That usually says a lot with the kind of race car he has for that weekend, so I didn?t take the pick lightly.
Momentum is definitely not on the #27 team?s side, but I?m cautiously optimistic for them. Paul will roll off the grid in 7th for the Pure Michigan 400, and he was 11th on the speed chart in Practice #2 on Saturday morning. In Happy Hour Menard was 9th fastest with the 8th-best ten-lap average. What has me most optimistic for Menard, however, is the fact that he has back-to-back 4th-place finishes here at Michigan, and in the two races prior to those he ended up 9th and 14th. That?s pretty solid. All three Richard Childress Racing Chevrolets have speed in the cars this weekend.
Still waiting on Matchups.

Matchups:
2* Greg Biffle +115 over Carl Edwards
2* Ryan Newman +115 over Denny Hamlin
Edwards was 31st on the speed chart in Practice #2. Flash forward to Happy Hour and he picked it up to 19th-best. EWdge goes to The Biff.
?The Rocketman? typically races better than he practices, and with how optimistic Newman sounded about his car in Happy Hour, I think that?s going to be the case once again this weekend. Ryan picked it up in Happy Hour and ended up 12th on the speed chart. He was 15th out of 17 cars on the ten-lap average chart in that final session, but that could possibly be explained by him running those laps later on in the session. Newman qualified 12th and should be an 8th to 13th place car all day long. Remember, this team is points racing right now to hopefully get in the Chase so they?re not going to do anything stupid.
Denny Hamlin has not been competitive at Michigan recently. In five of the last six races he?s finished 20th or worse. Over this stretch he?s only had one good finish and that was an 11th. In June he was very uncompetitive. He started in 29th, finished 29th and had a 25th place average running position. Also in the race he earned the 25th best driver rating and ran just .5% percent of the laps in the top fifteen.

2* Paul Menard +110 over Brian Vickers
Back here in the June race, Brian Vickers started 10th and he hit the wall and ended up finishing 42nd. It was the only time he had been on the new paved Michigan. Before that he was pretty good. Friday and was decent during the practice sessions on Saturday, posting the 16th-fastest lap in Practice #2 and the 15th-quickest in Happy Hour. Still I don;t have him finishing in front of Menard.
