another reason that i am rooting for MC to win is that cabrera performed this well after switching to 3rd base. players often struggle at the plate following a positional change.

Do you think Cabrera was putting in extra fielding practice learning 3rd base?

i dunno if he played worked at it more than the other 3rd basemen, but playing out of position forces you to think differently, and it is possible that mental strain in the field carries over to the plate.

i am pretty sure he has played 3rd base in the past.

I understand that argument for others. Adam Dunn's first year w/ the White Sox was attributed a bit to the fact he wasn't in the field, and was DH'ing. He had to sit and stew after a bad at-bat and it compounded, as opposed to getting out in the field and being more in the flow of the game. Not sure I buy it, but that was a reason given.

Regarding Cabrera, I was making a crack at his defense that I didn't see him putting in the extra time.

A previously stated though, the guy can rake, no question about that.

This post is not to continue any discussin or argument with anyone...just simply stating something...

I am Listening to SVP and Rissilo on radio...

They both said the same

They have no problem with trout backers...he has been amazing...as I have said, they would have no problem if he won

The only time they have a problem is when people try and minimize what miggy has done by reaching a 5 decade old accomplishment...well that's just whack....not saying anyone here has, but some trout enthusiasts apparently have done so...

They are two of the biggest and most respected talking heads on radio and tv....they both said miggy for sure gets their votes...

They both acknowledged that noone can be correct on a issue like this, but to them it just comes down to the fact that miggy did something that hasn't been done in a very, very, very long time...

You need to quit assuming people you listen to on the radio or TV know what they are talking about. You need to start to question things.

I don't put much stock in anything an ESPN blow-hard spouts out.

Winning the triple crown is an amazing feat. It just doesn't mean you are the best player.

What if a pitcher crushed Nolan Ryan's season strike out record, as well as surpassing Woods & Clemens game mark, however had pedestrian ERA and WHIP #'s? Should that pitcher get the Cy Young because Ryan has had the modern era strikeout record since the 70's?

I'm sure it would depend on what the competitions era and whip were....if they were close, I would 100% give it to the pitcher who had set the record...

That's why I lean miggy...not just because he won triple crown...

But he was arguabally just as good as trout, AND won the triple crown...

I have said trout is very deserving...because he is...

But for someone to think it is clear cut that trout should get it, man I just don't see it...

Listen you could be correct poon, maybe trout is way better, but for me its miggy...

Cool u like trout...

He is for sure the most exciting to watch...

Quit assuming people on radio and tv know what they are talking about, but 100% believe and listen to the advice and opinion of a person I have never met on a internet forum?

Ok sounds good

That's why I said 'pedestrian' in those stats, average, definitely not near the top. Just a hypothetical I was throwing out there.

I know not everyone believes in WAR, but when looking through stats, here is a list of players that have had a WAR above 10 for one season in the 'modern era':

Joe Morgan
Robin Yount
Cal Ripken
Alex Rodriguez
Barry Bonds (3)
Sammy Sosa
Mike Trout

If you are interested, for pitchers:

Bob Gibson
Fergie Jenkins
Steve Carlton
Tom Seaver (2)
Wilbur Wood
Gaylord Perry
Phil Niekro
Dwight Gooden
Roger Clemens (2)
Pedro Martinez
Randy Johnson
Zack Greinke

Just found it interesting, how few times it has occurred.
